I go back to my class in full disappointment and confusion. Who is that boy? I wanted to meet him and find out more about him, but he just appears and vanishes in a heartbeat. It's so frustrating. I go upstairs and sit in my seat beside the window and continue to stare outside, hoping I would find that boy again.
Classes continue and I either stare outside or just read my school books on my own. I've read and solved my school books many times, to the extent, I can memorize each line of my textbook of all subjects. The bell rings for lunch break and all the students gossip and talk loudly among their friends, laughing, cracking jokes. No one bothers me, nor do I bother anyone. I get up and walk out of the classroom, my mind still in confusion about the boy.
I go to the ground floor where my school serves lunch. I am the only one present, as usual. All the students talk to their friends, have some fun, stroll around the school and come together in groups, to eat with their friends. But, I don't. Always, I am the first one to eat.
I take my plate and stand near the counter. Today my lunch is vegetable salad, watermelon juice, mashed potatoes and pasta. Not too bad. I go and sit alone at one corner eating my lunch, not even bothering to look up. Slowly, the entire room is filled with students and their chattering.
"Are you coming to the festival today?" a girl asks her friend sitting across my table.
"Of course! who would miss such a fun thing?" her friend says excitedly.
"Ok! then let's go together! The festival starts at 6 p.m." another girl says.
Our town organizes a festival every year. All the people from the town, the elderly, the teenagers, the young, the rich, the poor, all the residents of the town are invited to the festival. It is a huge exhibition with various variety of stalls and performances such as music, dance etc. The festival is held on the occasion of the clan less people finally, forming a world of their own, away from the powerful magical clans and having their own laws and customs.
I visited the festival only once on my tenth birthday, with my family. I remember my dad holding my hand, while my mum was holding Adam's hand. We walked the entire place, buying lots of stuff, eating so much. Soon, my mind is filled with memories of the day we went to the festival.
"Dad...I want to have that big teddy bear...pleaaaassseeeee." I asked my dad in the most innocent way ever.
"Didn't you just buy one elephant size teddy bear? You want another one? Whole house is filled with nothing but teddy bears and strange dolls. It's irritating. " Adam said.
"Shut up, you stupid! At least they are better than your poster collection. All the walls of the house have nothing but those dumb posters." I shouted back at him.
"Don't you dare say anything about my posters. They are better." Adam said angrily.
"Yes, yes they are better, you good-for-nothing teenage boy." I said laughing.
"Shut up, you clingy brat." Adam said smiling.
"Now, enough....if you both don't stop yelling at each other, I will cook dinner tonight." mom said smiling.
"WHATT!! NOO!! mommy your cooking sucks! Dad is a better cook than you!" I said.
"Darling, you don't have to take such wild decisions. I will cook tonight." my dad said , slightly scared that my mom would cook.
