The Start of Something

So I decided that wherever and whenever I was, that it would probably be best to act as the person that they all thought I was. Whoever or whatever that person was. I could say for a certain that I was not in my own time and that I was someone of authority as the others seemed to follow me and wait for my command. This made me more nervous than ever that I would slip up and be found out to be a fake. Women in history have always been powerless and those with power had to always be on guard and work hard in order to be respected and not labelled as crazy, a witch or as a whore. So I had to be cautious of what I did in order to maintain this charade to make my time for however long that may be bearable.

The ladies lead me down a stone staircase and down stone corridors with beautiful tapestries and velvet curtains hanging on the walls. I was brought to a set of large wooden doors that contained the voices of many. The ladies all quietly left me there standing alone with a scared look on my face. Wait, now is my time to run! I started to turn to run as the doors opened and the left me exposed to a hall full of people all with there heads turned to look at me. A procession started to be played and I was ushered by the back row to start walking down the isle towards the front.

All of a sudden the dreaded thought that I was about to become married to a man that I did not know and in a unknown place and time became realized. Looking at the end of the isle there was no such man insight that looked like he fit the part. Relief and another wave of fear washed over me. What was going to happen when I reached the end?

I stood before an ancient looking man that held a book and was looking out towards the crowd to get everybody's attention for him to begin. "Today marks the beginning of a new era. Our beloved King James leaves his daughter Tegan I to become our new and rightful Queen of the lands of Anastasia."

The crowd broke out in cheers and the man waited to get their attention once more. "Do you accept Princess Tegan I to become your Queen?" he asked the crowd.

They all started to sing a soong of salute and that is when I first noticed him. A middle aged man wearing a lavish cloak was standing off to the side with a grimace on his face and was not partaking in the chorus. This was a man who would do whatever to not have a woman in power. You could tell from a quick glance at him that he thought he was more worthy of the title King than I, Queen.

I was then told to knee as I modest gold crown with a single emerald jewel was placed on top of my head. In that moment I felt like a Princess and gave a smile from ear to ear towards the crowd. "Today marks the day of not the beginning of my power over you, but the day I use my power to fight for a greater tomorrow for the people who make this land whole. I vow to stand for you as you do for your Queen!"

The crowd burst out into cheer again and after they mellowed the ancient man announced the Queen's council to the room. A older man by the name of John was the chosen one for working on the books and the finance of the land. He seem like a trust worthy fellow as his eyes held happiness and intelligence. The next man introduced was the vile man that had given me the rude look. The man's name was Donald and he was the military advisor for the Kingdom. Rudely, Donald interrupted the announcer, "Since a woman should not concern herself with the thoughts of war and conquest, I'll be happy to lead our forces in expanding and controlling our kingdom."

He had said the last word with an emphasis on the KING part. The crowd was silent and looked at me as I looked at Donald with a look of shock. Anger then took over me and I thought the hell with acting like a powerless woman. If I was to be a Queen while I was living this dream/nightmare , then I would fight for woman's rights and rule a fair kingdom! "Donald, you are released from the position of military advisor." I stated coldly.

He looked at me and said, "Who do you think will be a better replacement than I? I can make this Kingdom great!"

I looked to the side at the soldiers standing in line and asked, "Who is the lead solder?"

"That would be I my Queen." spoke the first soldier.

"What is your name? I asked.

"Sir Brutus, my Queen", he replied.

"Sir Brutus is to become the new military advisor for the kingdom. I am certain that a solider with the knowledge of the inner workings of defense and war will be able to keep our kingdom safe." I spoke to the crowd.

"Stupid woman! You know nothing and will regret this!" Donald roared.

I then did something that I hoped I had the power to do, but was the safest way if I was going to be safe from the hands of this vile angry man. "Take Donald to the dungeons!" I announced.

Donald's eyes flared red and he started to come towards me but was stopped by Sir Brutus. "You have  disrespected your Queen." Brutus responded.

"You will regret this!" Donald threatened as he was taken out of the room but the guards.

The crowd that had been ever so silently waited to see how this would all play out broke out into cheer as Donald had left the room. Good to hear that I wasn't the only one who disliked that man and that my decision to put away that man was an accepted one.
