Chapter 2

(Current time)

Saying the station is crowded was...an understatement to say the least.

Cops flooded in from everywhere, wrangling at least one person in to be processed into the system. The doors slam open as a young woman quickly makes her way through the station. Her gaze locked on a couple of her colleagues as they held attempt to hold a man down for striking an officer.

"Chief wants to see you!" Someone shouted as a crowd of oohs made its way through the entire office.

Rolling her eyes, (Name) turned on her heel and headed straight to the office of the Chief of Police. As she approached his office, she tried her best to mentally prepare for the scolding she was about to recieve. She paused at the door, took a deep breath and knocked.

"Come in," a booming voice sounded.

She slowly opened the door, and was met with the Boston Chief of Police. His back turned towards her as he faced the window.

'Shit. He's mad.'

The corners of her mouth turned up awkwardly as she tried her hardest to come up with any excuses that might save her from any disciplinary  actions.

"Chief, I can...explain. I was trying to think of-"

"I know what you were thinking of (Last Name)," the old man started.

"You- you did?" (Name)'s eyebrows quirked up in confusion.

"Yes, I did. You tried coming up with a solution that would lower the amount of casualties on both sides." He paused for a moment and let out a gutteral sigh. "That wasn't the plan we discussed when I had made you the head of this case."

"I know but sir-"

"Let me finish (Last Name)," he scolded.

The girl's mouth snapped shut.

"You knew the plan would go to shambles and people would get hurt, so, you thought quickly on the spot and made a new plan."

Putting his head in his hands and pinching the spot between his eyebrows in disappointment.

"You disobeyed direct orders, and yet...this bust went better than I expected it to."

The breath she held in her throat since she came into his office was finally released.

"Your quick thinking and great problem solving skills allowed us to not only bust the dealers, but also the suppliers. And no one on my force was greatly injured so, because of that..."

"I can't have you on my force."

Her eyes widened as she began to stifle out apology after apology until he raised his hand to stop her.

"You're skills are more useful somewhere else," he sighed to himself, "which is why I want you to transfer to NYPD as one of their detectives on a recurring offender."

(Name)'s jaw dropped.

"They sent me a request to have you transferred to their department. If you need living arrangements, just let me know and I'll-"

"I don't need them!" The old man turned to face her and got an earful of excitement in return.

'I came in here thinking I was getting fired and they got me a transfer and the position I've always wanted. I can't even think right now.'

She started giggling to herself. The excitement of being reassigned flooded her entire being.

"By the looks of you I'm guessing your answer is yes. You have a couple days to get situated in Brooklyn before you can come in. Need to get your files in their system I guess," he rambled on before locking eyes with the young woman standing across from him.
