It was late.
They had made it past the front and had been quietly searching the entire office.
They couldn't find him. They couldn't find their target.
'What if Miles got to him first? Shoot. What am I gonna do?'
(Name) and her entire team were officially stumped. They had checked everywhere.
They checked his office.
His employees' offices.
The closets.
The bathrooms.
They had turned the place inside and out but still couldn't find him. Then, while rechecking the target's office, one of the officers had clicked a button and a door suddenly appeared that led to a set of stairs leading down below.
The crew moved silently down the stairwell as Miles peeked around the corner, waiting for them to finally make it downstairs.
It was quiet.
An eerie sense of dread filled (Name) as she skeptically entered this secret hideout.
Moving as one, they explored each room. Examining every aspect of the room to determine whether or not their target had been in the room. They turned over every book, looking and taking notes of everything they witnessed. Some things, were a little more grotesque than others and would add onto the many charges placed upon the culprit and the others involved.
Stumped, one of the officers had suggested calling it quits, and many of the others seemed to follow suit. (Name) still held out hope.
As they were retracing back their steps from the way they came, (Name) realized there was a door they still hadn't checked.
It was a bit narrow, so they had all deemed no one possible to fit inside. However, as (Name) got closer to it, they couldn't have been more wrong.
Maybe it was the distance away from the door. Maybe it was because they were tired. But that door was more than enough to fit someone through.
(Name) snapped and the rest of her team turned to look in her direction. Motioning with her hands, she beckoned them to her. Silently, they snuck towards her, barely making a sound. As they all leaned closer, they could hear muffled talking behind the door.
Without thinking, one of the officers kicked down the door as the other officer ran in behind them. (Name) was the last to follow. Her senses had gone haywire. Something wasn't right.
As she entered, an older man sitting at a desk was quietly muttering to himself and furiously typing on a large computer.
She removed her gun from her holster and pointed it straight at him.
"____ ____ you are under arrest! Put your hands above your head where I can see them!"
The old man let out a slight giggle. "Aren't you gonna read me my rights sweetheart?"
"Scum like you don't deserve rights," she growled. "You should be dead for what you've done."
He smiled. "That's nice dear, but I'm uh... not going with you."
"The hell you mean you're not going-" A spew of gunshots had opened fire and killed some of her comrades. Her eyes blew wide in shock as one of the officers tackled her to the floor and yelled at the other officers to duck and cover.
'Shit. It was...it was an ambush. I gotta get that piece of shit outta here before Miles comes.'
Turning her head, she saw that some of the officers had apprehended him and were now just ducking behind a desk. Closing her eyes, (Name) yelled out. "Get him outta here now! We'll cover you!" She had stood back up and shot down some of the armed assailants. The two put in charge with taking their target out of the hostile situation had successfully made it out of there.
