Chapter 3

Her once scared demeanor faded to one of anger as her stare hardened.

"Oh look, it's the criminal himself...Miles Morales."

_________

His eyes narrowed as his casual smirk fell.

Miles dipped his head to whisper close to her ear.

"Be careful with what you say princesa."

(Name) pushed him away from her, careful not to raise any suspicion.

"Or what huh? You afraid I'll cause a scene." She whispered.

Miles scoffed and turned his head to the side, eyes scanning the crown to make sure none of his nosey family or neighbors were eavesdropping.

Not giving him anymore time for casual chat, she opened the door, shoes softly clicking against the stairs as she quickly made her way across the steps.

Walking out of the building, the young woman sped towards her car, after hearing his steps come closer as her eyes locked on her car.

Reaching in her pocket, she fumbled around for her keys, a sudden panic settling into her stomach.

'Where are my damn keys?'

"You gonna keep runnin' away from me?"

He had her cornered.

'Can never catch a break can you (Name)?'

"I didn't run. I walked." (Name) stated matter-of-factly.

He snickered and began his dramatics. "Don't matter. I haven't seen you in 6 years and you can't even say 'hi'. Mi corazón duele mamas."

(Name) rolled her eyes.

"Cry me a river. I don't associate myself with criminals." She spat.

Miles threw the girl a harsh look.

"Oh yeah. I forgot, you rollin' with the Five-O now. You're too good to associate with someone like me."

She pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration. "You know, I should really throw you in jail right now."

"You can't,"

"Yes. I. Can."

"With what evidence?"

"Your lil shared apartment with your uncle."

He smiled at her. "You won't find anything there. An even if you did, you'd get in trouble cause you don't have a warrant."

"I don't need one. I have evidence."

"Which is?"

"Reasonable grounds."

He broke out into laughter.

"So you-*laugh* you think you can arrest me *laugh* jus' cause you think I'm suspicious-*laugh*. That's some wack ass shit right there."

(Name) seethed with silent anger. Trying her best to contain some of the profanities and atrocities that threatened to spill out.

"I can't stand you." She growled. She huffed and continued her venture on the sidewalk, silently hoping to he would leave her be.

His locked onto her retreating form, laugh simmering down to a small smile as he started to follow her.

"Aw pobrecita. You upset cause you know you can't win this. It's okay I know its sad-"

The young woman stopped right in her tracks.
He just wouldn't let up.

"You know what's really sad Miles," (Name) spat.

"Dealing with the fact that your best friend was never really your friend,"

"(Name)-" He interrupted.

"He lied and pushed you away. He kept secrets from you and betrayed your trust,"

"(Name) parar ahora," Miles warned.

"And then, finding out that they're a wanted criminal," she whispered to herself.

"You're not a good person Miles. And- and I don't know how I was blinded from seeing it for so long." Her voice was faltering, but she took a deep breath and looked him straight in the face.

His gaze narrowed as she finished. His eyes raking over her body searching for any sign of hesitance, any sign that she didn't mean anything she had just said.

But, he didn't find any.

"Im goin' home," (Name)'s voice coated with disappointment, " I can't deal with you right now."

Sighing to himself, Miles reached in his pocket and pulled out her car keys. Throwing them to (Name).

"Of course you stole them. Why would I think otherwise? Every time I try to trust you, you give me so many reasons as to why I shouldn't even bother with you in the first place."

His eyes widened. 'Ouch.'

Finally making it towards her car, (Name) turned to see Miles stuck in the same spot.

She let out a slight laugh, though she knew nothing about this situation was comical. "Getting your feelings hurt doesn't feel too good does it Miles?"

Whistling lowly, the young man casually walked to her.

Rolling her eyes, (Name) moved to walk over towards the driver's side.

As soon as she opened the car door, it slammed shut. She could see Miles' hand holding the door frame down, preventing her from leaving this conversation. His tall frame loomed over her as if daring her to make a run for it. To try and run away again. Her line of vision slowly rising to meet his unwavering stare.

"Don't act like you know what you're talking about 'cause you don't," he sneered, "You're too caught up in your fantasy to realize people aren't as perfect as you."

Pushing himself off her car door, he turned around, slowly walking back towards the commotion of his mother's celebration.

"Stay outta my way and mind your business,"

His steps came to a stop before continuing to walk away. His steps somehow getting slower and slower the more he walked away from her.

He turned his head, to get his final words across.

"Wouldn't want la princesa bella getting hurt now would we?"
