Chapter 21

3rd Person's POV

Outside with Y/N's physical body, everyone and everything was in a panic. Rengoku was still recovering with one eye hurt from the fight and Y/N was asleep

"I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you..."

Gyomei clasped his hands softly as he quietly sobbed. The Stone Hashira had been visiting often ever since he heard about Rengoku and his dear friend

"Hello Gyomei!"

Rengoku walked through the door after talking with Shinobu. Kocho was nice enough to let the Hashira's stay in her estate. More because she was worried about Y/N but that was beside the point

"She still hasn't woken up?"

Gyomei shook his head

"Nothing yet"

Rengoku smiles sadly

"I see, don't worry. She'll wake up"

The rock hashira nods and stood up

"I have to get going, let me know for any updates"

Rengoku smiles

"Of course!"

They bid farewell and Rengoku slowly sat down on the girl's bed as he gently tucked away the hair that fell on her face

"I'll be waiting for you..."

He leans down as his lips graze her forehead and then

"Oh jeez!"

The girl sits up and ends up clashing with Rengoku making them hold their faces in pain

"*Groan* That hurt!"

Rengoku groaned in pain before he froze

"You're awake..."

Y/N gently massaged her forehead as she furrowed her brows

"Kyojuro?"

She looks up at him with tears brimming her eyes

"You're alive"

She managed to talk just above a whisper

"You're alive!"

She wrapped her arms around him as she nuzzled into his chest

"I was afraid I wouldn't see you again"

Her grip tightened on his back as her voice wavered with her closed eyes

"You saved me N/N, and I'm eternally grateful to you"

Several footsteps were heard outside the room before the door swung open

"Is everything alright?! We-"

Tanjiro along with Zenitsu and Inosuke stood frozen
