Some personality info: She has lost half of her sanity due to living with the Beldam in the Other World and loneliness. She masks her loneliness and pain with a smile and happy attitude. But, as she spends time with Coraline, the person she used to be before the Beldam slowly begins to show.
Cover in the other world: She tells Coraline that because her parents had passed away in the real world, her other parents also passed, and that Coraline's other mother had taken her in out of the " kindness of her heart ".

Height: She's only a few inches shorter than Coraline.
Weight: Of a empty pizza box.
Her curse: She is cursed to do whatever the Beldam pleases with a ring of an enchanted handbell. Her curse can only be broken if all the children souls are free, and she plans to show the Beldam how " grateful " she is once the curse is broken.
How the other Pink Palace residents see her: They compare her to a stray dog as she's always around but they never heard her mention anything about her family or where she lives. Miss Spink and Miss Forcible often invites her to tea, but Merita usually never drinks the tea.
How Wybie views her: Wybie sees Merita as a annoying sibling, but he does tries to get her to see that she's his friend, but Merita has a hard time believing that he sees her as a friend due to lack of socialization with humans.
Hobbies: She sings songs she has heard, but she only sings when she's trying extra hard to keep her happy act.
Her life before the Beldam: She doesn't remember most of her life before the Beldam and the other word, but she remembers that she used to be somewhat like Coraline, but shy and always seeing the good in others. And though she doesn't remember what happened to her parents, she knows that they have passed away.
