The fox plush was in the Jones' car, in the back with Coraline as she was telling her parents about her two latest " dreams " as the car stops in front of a place called " Northwest Garden."

Coraline: ( to her parents: ) . . . there were garden squash like balloon animals, and snap dragons. Oh, and upstairs I saw a real mouse circus, not pretend like the crazy man's in our house. And behind the house was a huge forest with a medieval tavern with talking animals that act and dress like humans, and Merita was singing a duet with a deer playing piano.

Coraline's Dad: ( to his wife: ) You sure you won't come?

Coraline's Mom: Don't fret, Charlie, they'll love the new catalog. At least, they'll love my chapters.

Coraline's Dad then opens the door, and Coraline's Mom looks at Coraline.

Coraline's Mom: I did not call him crazy, Coraline. He's drunk.

Coraline's Dad then leans in to Coraline, and pinches her nose.

Coraline's Dad: Well, I guess I'll see you around, you dizzy dreamer.

Coraline cuts him off, embarrassed.

Coraline: Dad! I'm not five anymore.

Coraline's Dad sighs, and the fox plush watches him head up to the steps to the building from the car window without Coraline or her mom noticing as they drove off. They drove to a uniforms department store, and when Coraline and her Mom left the car and went into the store, the fox plush whines as it was left in the car. The fox plush then watched Coraline from the back car window, and saw that Coraline showing her mom a pair of colorful gloves, only to get told to put them back, and the fox plush whines at how upset Coraline got for not getting the gloves. It then went back to place and act lifeless when Coraline and her mom got back in the car with the uniforms, and began the drive home. Coraline was sitting in the passenger seat, and the shopping bags were in the back with the fox plush, who glanced at the shopping bags with curiosity.

Coraline: ( to her mom: ) So, what do you think's in the other apartment?

Coraline's Mom: I don't know. Not a family of Jones imposters and a kid with sharp canines.

Coraline: Then why'd you lock the door?

Coraline's Mom: Oh, I found some rat crap and I thought you'd feel safer.

Coraline: They're Jumping Mice, Mom! And the dreams aren't dangerous; they're the most fun I've had since we've moved here.

Coraline's Mom: Your school might be fun.

Coraline: With those stupid uniforms? Right.

Coraline's Mom: Had to give it a try.

They then pull into the driveway, and Coraline leans in the back and grabbed the fox plush before she grabbed the bags and went inside, Coraline's Mom was now in the kitchen and looked in the fridge. Coraline places the bags down and puts the fox plush on the kitchen table.

Coraline's Mom: How do you feel about a mustard-ketchup-salsa wrap for lunch?

Coraline: Are you kidding me?
