"Hey, dipshit—where the fuck was the 'I'm not coming home' text?" ChangBin grumbles, glancing up from his laptop as Chan slips into the dorm.
"I'm sorry. I got distracted and forgot." Chan apologizes, truly feeling awful for not letting the two boys know.
"It's fine. MinHo texted JiSung and told him he thought you might stay. I just wanted to be an ass. We figured you wouldn't be home—that you'd either stay with her or go to your studio." ChangBin shrugs, returning his attention to his task at hand.
"Hey, dork." JiSung smiles brightly, throwing something at Chan.
"The fuck—" Chan hisses as he catches it, dropping his phone in the process.
"It's a little gift." JiSung chuckles in amusement, watching Chan turn over the gift he'd wrapped lovingly at two thirty in the morning.
"What the hell is it, JiSung? Do I even want to know?" Chan groans, setting it down on the counter to retrieve his phone.
"Relax—it's nothing bad. I found it in my old laptop case if that tells you anything." JiSung pays his shoulder before slipping by him to get something from the fridge.
"Wait—is it—fuck—seriously, JiSung—" Chan is quick to pick the box back up, tearing the paper off without hesitation. He lifts the lid and his heart stops at the sight of it.
"Lover boy's love song." JiSung confirms with a grin.
"Fuck. I thought this was gone forever. I didn't know where the fuck it ended up." Chan turns the flash drive over in his hands, his eyes glued to the precious object.
"Put it on the next album. It wasn't bad if I remember right. We can sing—kind of." ChangBin shrugs, playing his joke off as anything but. They all have good voices, they just typically focus on rap.
"I don't want it for us. I can write us something else." Chan shakes his head, refusing to use something so special to himself for himself. Would the song go over well? Probably. It'd probably be a game changer for them—help them broaden their fan base with the help of a new genre, but he has different plans.
"You're giving it to them." JiSung states casually as he pops a grape in his mouth.
"Mhm—gonna give it to her—to EunChae. I wrote it for her. It's not my song—it's hers—always has been." Chan confirms with a smile, the memory of slaving over the song for weeks something he can't help but relish in.
"So fucking cheesy." ChangBin shudders, shaking his head.
"Shut up." Chan snaps, tossing him a glare as he starts off toward his room.
"Manager will be here in twenty. Might wanna bust your ass and get ready." JiSung calls after him in warning.
"Thank you!" Chan gives him a thumbs up over his shoulder as he slips into his room.
Chan sets his stuff down, moving to collect clean clothes so he can shower. His eyes can't help but wander back to the little old thumb drive he truly thought was gone from existence. He'd written the songs on it just after their debut when he was still struggling with storage on his old laptop. He had no idea where it went and was devastated when he realized it was gone.
A soft smile crosses his face as he picks up his phone and heads for his bathroom. Setting his clothes down, he steps toward the shower to start the water while scrolling through his phone for EunChae's number.
"Hm?" EunChae hums as she picks up. "Wait—are you showering? Why are you calling me in the shower—Christopher—"
"Relax—I literally just started the water. There are no dirty intentions in this call." Chan reassures her with a melodic chuckle. "Sung found one of my old flash drives with a song I wrote for you on it. I wanted to tell you that it's yours. You guys can use it. I'll stop in your dressing room later to play it for you."
