Time continued to slip away, its relentless march showing no signs of slowing down. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and with each passing moment, his emotions for her deepened. He had believed that distance would cause his affection to wane, but instead, it grew stronger, defying his expectations and proving that his heart could not be swayed by mere absence.
For the past two months, he had poured his heart and soul into his father's business empire, only to find himself confronted with everything he had tried to leave behind. The person he had worked so hard to become, the new perspective he had adopted - it all seemed to be slipping away, replaced by the old version of himself that he had hoped to outgrow. The illusion of a new life was fading, leaving him grappling with the harsh reality of his past.
It felt as though he was trapped in a fabricated, virtual reality constructed by his own corporate entities, thriving on deceit and manipulation. Greed, wealth, and influence seemed to permeate every member of his family. The K-Group, a conglomerate dominated by his relatives and ambitious executives, was driven solely by the relentless pursuit of profit and prestige.
Her absence weighed heavily on him. He longed for the comfort of her reassuring gaze, the hope it brought him in even the darkest of moments. As he gazed up at the sky, its serene brightness contrasting with the night's darkness, memories of her flooded his mind. Just the thought of her made him feel a sense of peace that he sorely missed. With a heavy sigh, he closed his eyes, seeking solace in her memory. The sudden sound of footsteps jolted him back to reality, causing him to startle as he opened his eyes to an unexpected visitor.
"Why are you here, in the middle of the children's playground at our company? Planning on enrolling your future kids in our employees' daycare already?" Seokjoon teased, approaching his brother with a grin. Haein let out an exasperated sigh, rolling his eyes at his brother's predictable humor and covering his face in mock embarrassment.
"Seriously, what's going on with you? I called you five times in the last five minutes, and you didn't pick up any of them!" Seokjoon exclaimed, clearly frustrated by his brother's unusual behavior towards him.
"Seokjoon, I've already said it—I'm not going anywhere. I just need some time alone. I won't be joining you anywhere," Haein replied firmly, emphasizing his need for solitude.
