It is often said that after enduring long and arduous struggles, life's rewards emerge. And in those moments, the intricate web of connections becomes clear. Haein never imagined such a turn of events would unfold before him. The idea of unexpectedly being blessed with a child had never crossed his mind. As he followed Baek Hyeon up to the second floor, his heart raced with anticipation. The prospect of meeting his child left him feeling both excited and anxious. Thoughts raced through his mind at lightning speed as he tried to imagine what his baby girl would look like.
"Will she have my features? No, I hope she takes after her mother instead. My little girl...I'm about to meet my little girl!" Haein thought, his heart pounding in his chest. The excitement of the moment mixed with a touch of nerves, causing butterflies to flutter in his stomach. With each step closer to his daughter's room, the anticipation grew. Baek Hyeon noticed Haein's visible anxiety and flashed him a reassuring smile.
"Are you ready to meet her?" Baek Hyeon asked softly, his hand resting on the doorknob. Haein took a deep breath, focusing on Baek Hyeon's face.
"I'm not sure...I...I feel like I might faint!" Haein admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. Sweat glistened on his forehead, giving away his efforts to compose himself. Baek Hyeon couldn't help but smile at Haein's visible nervousness.
"What are you afraid of? I promise she won't bite!" Baek Hyeon teased, a smirk playing on his lips. Haein chuckled and shook his head in disbelief.
"I...I just can't believe it's real...It feels too good to be true, Baek Hyeon. I've been through hell these past months, not knowing anything about Jisoo...and now suddenly finding her and becoming a father too? It feels like a dream! It can't be real!" Haein exclaimed, his face reflecting the scars of his tumultuous past. He struggled to accept that something so wonderful was happening to him. Baek Hyeon sighed softly, realizing the overwhelming amount of information Haein was processing in such a short time.
Most of the hardships that Haein endured stemmed from his own family, with Baek Hyeon playing a significant role in the turmoil. Baek Hyeon hung his head in remorse, weighed down by guilt.
"Haein... I'm truly sorry. I regret how this has impacted your life like a speeding train. But please understand, it was all because of my daughter... I promise to explain everything in time, but right now, I just want you to meet the reason I brought you here," Baek Hyeon spoke with unwavering sincerity. Haein hesitated for a moment before taking a small step forward, offering a subtle nod in acknowledgment.
"Once you see her, you'll know this is all real," Baek Hyeon reassured Haein before gently pushing open the door. The baby room was softly illuminated by a delicate white floral chandelier, bathing the space in a comforting golden light. The walls were painted a calming pale pink, and the plush cream carpet beckoned with its softness.
At the room's center stood a medium-sized crib adorned with a pristine white and pink sheet, adorned with small, plump pillows. A whimsical mobile above the crib featured adorable teddy bears that matched the room's decor. Framed photographs on the walls captured precious moments of happiness with the baby and the family, while a large mirror reflected the room's warmth and serenity.
As Haein's gaze wandered around the room, he noticed a small bookshelf nestled in the corner, showcasing an array of nursery books. The room exuded a sense of coziness and tranquility, offering a sanctuary from the turmoil of the outside world. However, nothing could have readied him for the moment his eyes landed on the small bundle wrapped in a blanket, cradled by a middle-aged woman.
"Mary, I'll take Youngro now. You can go," Baek Hyeon instructed the nanny as he gently lifted the bundle from her arms. Haein's eyes widened with pure joy as he beheld his daughter's rosy cheeks and angelic, big eyes. A gasp filled the room as Haein took in her features, which bore a striking resemblance to her mother's.
