As Mihee stood on the outskirts of the nearby park, the cold night air wrapped around her like a familiar, unwelcome shroud. The Christmas lights that adorned the trees and fences cast a soft glow on the still waters of the lake, creating a hauntingly beautiful scene. She let out a heavy sigh, her hands trembling as she clasped them together in a silent plea for strength.

The weight of her hidden truth bore down on her, threatening to crush her spirit. Mihee knew that the time had come to reveal the secrets she had kept buried for so long. It was not a choice she made willingly, but a necessary step to right the wrongs she had unknowingly caused. The thought of the pain and turmoil that would surely follow filled her with a deep sense of dread.

Years of deception had taken their toll on Mihee. The facade she had carefully constructed, pretending that Haein was Taehoon's son, was crumbling before her eyes. All the sacrifices she had made, all the pain she had caused her own son in a misguided attempt to protect him, had been for nothing. The truth she had fought so hard to conceal had finally come to light, and the consequences were more devastating than she could have ever imagined.

Lost in her thoughts, Mihee was jolted back to reality by a sharp knock on her car window. Startled, she turned to see Baek Hyeon standing outside, his expression unreadable. Without hesitation, she unlocked the car door, allowing him to enter.

As Baek Hyeon settled into the car, Mihee couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The weight of her secrets hung heavy in the air between them, a silent reminder of the turmoil that lay ahead.

Baek Hyeon muttered in surprise, "I never expected a call like this, let alone a late-night meeting," as he shut the door on the passenger's side. Mihee nervously nibbled on her bottom lip, attempting to reign in her emotions, but her struggle was evident as he quickly picked up on her unease.

"Mihee, what's the matter? Is Taehoon okay?" He asked with concern, noting her troubled expression. Mihee pursed her lips and nodded her head slowly.

"Then what's going on? It's strange because ever since our last talk, you've been avoiding me for so long!" Baek Hyeon remarked, his gaze steady on her. Mihee chuckled slightly at the mention of the day they met at Minji's grave.

"That was a year ago," she said, tears welling up in her eyes. Baek Hyeon gave her a small nod and gently took her arm as he recalled bringing flowers to his late wife's grave. Their gazes locked as they tried to understand each other.

"Your eyes bring back so many wonderful memories," he whispered softly as his hand reached up to her face, her cheeks damp with tears. Mihee smiled at his words, feeling proud to be the woman he had fallen in love with. Yet, a hint of shame lingered as thoughts of her pregnancy from that time flooded back into her mind.

"Baek Hyeon," she whispered as her smile vanished. She gently removed his hands from her face and turned her gaze towards the front of the car, her eyes dropping to the steering wheel.

"We were truly the worst kind of people to ever exist. I betrayed my best friend, and so did you."
