(a/n): I feel like I should make a quick recap since it's been a million years since I updated this. But not even I know how to do that😄 point is, we're back baby!!
"Going back and forth through content and dread. Got meetings to attend."
☼
Just as Kellin predicted, Monday rolled around in a flash.
The first meeting with the park people was starting in less than twenty minutes at the conference room on the top floor, and even when he wasn't needed upstairs for the presentation (only Trenton, Phoebe, John, and Taylor plus assistant Sam were supposed to be there) he was still nervous. He didn't even know why.
Because his job was on the line, basically. And to put it dramatically. Which of course, was untrue.
If he didn't get the promotion it wouldn't be the end of the world. He wouldn't get fired, he'd only have to endure Louisa getting the position instead. Would they even give it to Louisa? He was doing everything he could while she did the bare minimum. Or at least she made it look like that. He wasn't one to judge. And he didn't know if Louisa was considered in the first place.
So he wouldn't get fired, no, but he would feel some extreme disappointment and would most likely dive into some good ol' self-loathing for a couple of weeks. Nothing new. Yet something he wasn't looking forward to. The smug look on Louisa's face, if she got the promotion instead of him, would be enough to make him quit on the spot. He didn't want to think about that possibility, though. But he couldn't concentrate on work either.
He was preparing for the worst already when the meeting hadn't even started– he glanced at the time on the corner of his laptop screen, then checked his watch– well, it seemed like it already did.
Kellin sighed to himself.
Either way, he wouldn't know about his position status today, the next day, or even next week. In his experience, he knew the park people would give out their feedback after the presentation was over, possibly extensive feedback, hopefully not too drastic. This meant the teams would have to work on changes for a certain amount of time. Most likely a week if they were lucky. If Kellin was lucky. He just wanted it to be over so he could know if he won or not sooner.
After a shake of his head and a sip of his coffee, Kellin decided he had wasted enough time as it was with his anxiety-filled brain, and he finally decided he would one hundred percent focus on work. And he did for a while. He got into the groove and caught up with some of his never-ending emails and went over some of his pending tasks, taking notes on projects piling up and the ones already in the archives, and finally started a new research document on another client they had. However, it didn't take long for an interruption to pop up.
A very unwelcome and annoying interruption.
"So I heard your campaign had some cool artwork, Kellin," Louisa said, nonchalantly and looked over her recently done manicure like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
The unexpected visitor stood beside his chair in a matching pale-pink suit and pants, bangs done perfectly over her forehead and a signature snarl on her red lips. Kellin turned slowly to look at her and held back an eye roll. Just what he needed.
"Hello, Louisa." He greeted her, putting on a fake smile.
She faked another one in return. "Did you hear my question?"
