"When you feel embarrassed, then I'll be your pride. When you need directions, then I'll be the guide. For all time."

The sun was shining down on all the trees as they sped by. Windows down, Vic Fuentes rested his head on his arms, on top of the car door, eyes squinting as he took in the beautiful morning sight and air. The sky was colored in that perfect shade of blue he loved so much, deep blue and barely any clouds. A good omen for an even better day.
He smiled as the warm breeze hit his face, his hair blowing in crazy motions, but he couldn't be bothered to tie it up. Was this what dogs felt when they did this? It made so much sense now. This was amazing, even when his boyfriend worried that it was dangerous. It wasn't at all, not really. He should try it too. Not with him at the wheel, now that would be dangerous.
The thought made him giggle. Maybe he should learn how to drive just to let Kellin feel this... But he'd rather pay for the taxi, really. He giggled even more. He liked the feeling invading him, something so... peaceful, but at the same time completely unexplainable. It wasn't new; he'd been feeling like this for a while now, and he loved it. It made him feel like he'd finally made it. Whatever that meant.
But it was this, probably, living the life he never dreamed he'd have, something so entirely different from what he envisioned for himself five years ago, or even less. And he liked the twist. It made him believe that his future was even brighter, that whatever was in store for him—for them—would only keep getting better and better.
And that got Vic thinking about the first time he sat here, in the passenger seat of Kellin's car, a completely different version of himself, and of Kellin too. He remembered feeling awkward and out of place, like he was troubling him too much by accepting a simple favor. He even lied about who left him stranded there at that store, afraid he'd judge him or something. Who would've thought that was the start of everything?
Vic doubted Kellin was aware of what he was doing, or why he was doing it. He was just being a decent man. He should've paid more attention to the signs the universe showed him that night though, it was all so clear now. And it was adorable how oblivious they were during all those months, especially Vic. But now Vic was head over heels in love with him, so he supposed it worked out anyway. Thank you for your service, Miss Fate.
And speaking of, Vic sat back on his seat and turned to look at said man, grinning even more. His favorite song was playing from the speakers, and now it would always remind him of this moment. Of him. And Kellin, sensing eyes on him, spared a glance his way too, blushing faintly before looking back to the road again. Vic absentmindedly bit his bottom lip.
It was something so curious, how handsome he looked while driving. Like a million times more, that is. Vic believed he could watch him do this all day, all night, if he was lucky someday. He loved that Kellin knew of this odd fascination of his too, and that he blushed whenever Vic shamelessly stared at him like this. How he smiled while his thoughts spiraled in his head.
He had his black sunglasses on, and his bangs fell on top of them neatly. His hair was a little longer now than when they first met, growing a little past his ears and on top of his neck. The messy style suited him a lot more, in his opinion.
He could see his throat bob sharply as he swallowed, probably nervous under his gaze. Vic wanted to kiss it, over and over, then shift to that jaw that begged to be kissed just as well, those cheeks, those pale rose lips at least a thousand times.
He was wearing a smart-casual outfit like he usually did whenever they went out, an olive green short-sleeved button-up with the first one undone, a low-hanging silver necklace, those black pants that did wonders for his already insane legs... God, if it were up to Vic, they would've taken a short (long) detour already.
