"To you, everything's funny, you got nothing to regret. I'd give all I have honey, if you could stay like that."

It was such a peculiar feeling to be in a relationship again. For four years, Kellin Quinn's heart was locked away, secluded by his worst demons with no hope of ever getting out. He was meant to be alone for the rest of his life, he was meant to live a withdrawn life. Now he knew he had it all wrong.
And wasn't he so glad? He had no idea that the moment he met Vic Fuentes, his life would change this way, but he'd never felt this... good before. Four years was a long time, and the more Kellin thought about it, the more surreal it became. He supposed his brain was still adjusting to the reality that he wasn't alone anymore. He had someone new to count on, he had someone to share his life with again. He had someone.
He never expected it to be so easy either, not that it was ever the opposite. Working together, becoming friends, all of that had been pretty uncomplicated. But this? Being boyfriends? Easiest thing Kellin's ever had to do in his life. Not that defining their relationship status changed things much, which was funny considering how anxious he'd been about asking, but Kellin liked it. He liked being Vic's boyfriend. He liked that he was so okay with it, after everything.
Just one week after the county fair, Kellin sat at his work desk as he usually did, typing away a boring report he didn't want to do at all, listening to music with one headphone on. Vic had sent him a playlist a couple of days ago with all his favorite songs that Kellin needed to know too, so he was on the mission of listening to the extensive playlist whenever he had the chance.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on who was asked, the music got interrupted by a call. Its curator's name popped up on the screen, and Kellin smiled widely upon seeing his picture and the newly added heart beside his name—Vic's doing. Kellin gladly accepted the call before it could keep ringing.
"Guess who I just ran into?" Vic chirped before Kellin could even say hello.
"Who?" Kellin said with a smile, unplugging his headphones and putting his phone to his ear.
"Your mom!"
Kellin stopped everything he was doing, his eyes popped open in shock.
"...What?"
"Yeah! I was in line at the bakery, and she was there too! It was so random, she called for me first, and I was so surprised to see her, but it was so nice. We even started an entire conversation about sourdough," Vic chuckled, but Kellin stood up from his desk too fast, almost knocking down all his pens, and closed his laptop in a panic.
His mother... Vic and his mom, together, talking.
Kellin ignored his coworkers' weirded-out looks and walked out of the office and into the copy room that was thankfully empty. He pretended to get busy, grabbing some paper and putting it in the printer, and all the while, Vic was moving the conversation too quickly. Kellin had to interrupt him so he could backtrack.
"Wait, wait. Hang on. What do you mean you ran into my mother?"
Vic paused before laughing lightly.
"Darling, I do know your mom in case you forgot..."
"W-well, yeah, but not like..." Kellin trailed down, feeling his face warm up already.
"Don't worry, I didn't tell her I like to kiss her son," Vic said in a teasing tone that only made Kellin blush deeper.
"Shut up," he turned so he could face the wall instead, but a big smile crept up on his face anyway. He shook his head. "Where are you now?"
"Walking back to my apartment," Vic said, and Kellin could picture his pretty smile so easily. He wanted to be there with him. "Honestly, you should come over and try some of these later. I might've gone overboard with the sourdough, but it's also your mom's fault."
