Chapter 6

First person, Percy's perspective

*Percy is 8*

It was Iroh.

The famous retired general, the dragon of the west, just broke into my room.

"IS HE DEAD!" Everett yelled.

"I'm okay," Iroh said, not sounding it.

Everett and I hoisted him onto a bed. He may be an instrument of my demise, but he's also an old man who looks close to fainting and I'm not a monster.

"I'm here to," He breathed heavily, "I'm here to help you," Iroh said.

"Sounds unlikely, you helped plan my death," I said.

"Wait what!?" Everett asked, confused.

"I'm going to get you to safety, you're going to escape," said Iroh, ignoring Everett.

I thought for a moment and then said,

"Ok."

"I'm not going to lie, I thought I would have to convince you a tad more," Iroh said.

"What's the worst thing that could happen, me dying," I sassed.

"Fair," Iroh said.

"I am so lost right now," Everett said.

"Is he your friend?" Iroh asked.

"Mhmm."

"You should say your goodbyes." Iroh said

"Why," Everett asked.

"I kinda angered the Firelord."

"Percy, no," he said.

"Percy, yes, so bye, I guess," I said, following Iroh out through the opening in the wall.

On my way out, I hear him say "My life isn't nearly good enough for this level of chaos."

Him and I scooted through the wall until it opened up to a passageway in the walls, where we tried to be as fast and quiet as we could. After a minute or two, we got to a door that, when we opened, led right outside the castle.

We walked for a bit longer until Iroh turned to me, gave me a piece of paper, a bag, and said,

"On that piece of paper is the address of a great friend of mine, who will house you and you will be his pupil. Unfortunately, I cannot go any farther with you so you must make the journey yourself. The bag contains several fire nation outfits and a substantial amount of food."

"Thank you, Iroh," I said.

"Please, call me Uncle Iroh," He said.

I turned around to look at him, but he was already gone.

When I got to his friend's house a week later, I knocked at the door.

"Can I help you?" asked the monotone voice of the person who appeared at the door

"Someone sent me here," I said, giving him the slip of paper.

"I better take you to see the Master," He said.

We walked into the building to see a serious-looking guy. I hope he just has a resting-"get-off-my-lawn"-face and he's actually a big teddy bear.

"Fat, who is this?" he asked.

Fat slipped him the piece of paper. He read it and sighed so heavily that I could tell he was probably shouting obscenities in his head.

"Iroh has once again taken it upon himself to make decisions for me, because I obviously don't have enough to do," He said.

"Fat, please take him to one of the guest rooms while I sort myself out."

Fat took me to a room with a queen sized bed and told me this was to be my room. Upon hearing this news, I did what any cultured person would do, I dove head first onto the bed.

"I'm glad you like the room, please come to me if you would like anything," Fat said.

"Thank you so much," I said.

I went to sleep, which I thought would be instantaneous because of my exhaustion and the comfy bed, but took a while because of my raw joy. While trying to sleep I heard something from another room in the house.

"I'm incredibly disappointed in you, Piandao," Came Fat's voice, "You were unwelcoming to that little boy this evening."

"I know that was wrong of me, I'm just sick of Iroh's "always knowing what's good for others" thing affecting me with no warning," Said Piandao.

"Even so, we know that that little boy is running away from something and he doesn't need another place and more people that are negative forces in his life. I don't know about you but I want to be the positive force in his life that I just know he's lacking," Fat said.

"I'll start training him tomorrow."

A/N I got the motivation to write this by chugging two cups of coffee at 4 pm. and having *aesthetic* thunderstorms

I hope at least one person likes this story.

I'm sorry it took so long I have like 6 hobbies that I take no classes for so I just have to keep up with them with my own passion.

Thank you to everyone who has commented and voted or read at all. I know this isn't very professional but when I open my wattpad notifications to see someone who has commented (especially on the plot) I squeal.

I will try to write more. (I know no one really reads these author notes so sorry for including one)
