A/N: posting this birthday chapter on Mason's birthday because I just give Finney and Mason the same birthday 🤷‍♀️

Posting this chapter sooner then I should so sadly you'll probably have to wait a bit longer for the next chapter..

*Finney's POV*

I woke up by thunder haunting the sky. One flash of lightning lit up my room and let out a loud rumble. My heart started speeding up but just for a second, it calmed down when I realised it was just the thunder outside.
I've never really been scared of thunder. I used to when I was younger but my dad just told me to man up. He once made me climb up a tree during a thunder storm so he would prove his point that "nothing would happen".
Mom was always scared of thunder. She would make us all cuddle up in the couch and wait til it was over. She told my dad it was for me and Gwen's sake but it was actually for her own.
Gwen was and is scared of thunder. She just hated the sound, the flashing lighting and the lights going out. She hated it overall. I can't blame her though, thunder can be scary.
A tree on our street got once struck and started burning. I have to admit that was a little scary. I think it was mostly because I was 10 and vulnerable but also the fact that it was so close. It showed that thunder could do harm.
I flipped my pillow to the cold side and turned a bit in bed. I pulled my blanket up but only to my ribs. I left my arm on top of it, otherwise it would be too hot.

I could feel myself drift to sleep, but it was suddenly disturbed by my bedroom door creaking open. A spring of light let itself in my room from the hallway light. I rubbed my eye and looked over to the door. There stood two figures. Gwen and Peter. Gwen held Peter's hand as he sniffled. Was he crying?
"Finney.. are you awake?" Gwen whispered. I hummed in response and sat up slightly. Peter was holding his teddy bear in one hand. It was getting dragged with him against the floor. He wiped his tears with his sleeve as he stood there.
I could hear that Gwen's voice was a bit wobbly as she spoke. I think that she tried to stay strong for Peter.
"What are you guys doing?" I said barely above a whisper. They stood quiet for a second before Gwen spoke again,
"Can we sleep in your bed tonight?" She asked. I ran a hand through my hair and sighed,
"Why don't you go to aunt May and uncle Ben?" I propped myself up on my elbows.
"..please Finney" Gwen said. I sighed again,
"Fine" the two of them immediately made their way over to my bed. I shuffled over to make some space for them. Gwen crawled over to the left side of the bed that was closest to the window and Peter laid on my right. I unwrapped my arms from myself and put them out as a invitation for them both. Gwen brought herself closer and put her head in the crook of my neck, her arms laying on top of my chest. I wrapped my arm around her and moved slightly for my own comfort. Peter did the same on my right. He snuggled into me with his teddy bear nearby. I pulled the blanket half up on us and let them adjust how they wanted it to be.
It only took a couple of minutes for them to fall asleep.

Aren't they a little too old for this?

The next morning, I woke up by the sun shining onto my face. I went to rub my eyes but a weight and a groan held me down. I slowly opened my eyes and looked to my left where Gwen laid. She was still snuggled into my neck her arm across my chest. Her legs laid tangled over mine, and also Peter's. Peter laid a bit more onto me and his arms wrapped around my rib cage. The two of them laid in deep sleep. I then remembered the nights situation.
I put my head back onto the pillow and let out a deep breath. There was something. Something I was supposed to remember.. something happening today.
I closed my eyes and let myself rest for just a little while. I didn't want to wake them up.
