As I waited for him to get to the coffee shop I had to find a way to shut my mind off. I couldn't have Colson know that I asked one of his closest friends about my questions. I had no other choice. I looked up at the same time Pete walked in. He gave me a smile and walked over.

"Hey". He said and sat down.

"Thanks for meeting me. It was urgent". I said.

He nodded and sat back. He was just as intimidating as Colson. Hell, even sweet old Travis was. They all had a way of scaring me.

"I have questions if you don't mind me asking you. I have no other way to get them answered". I said.

He leaned up and over the table as he nodded.

"Its about Kells".

he quickly sat back. "Fuck that". He said and stood up.

I grabbed his arm and sat him back down. "Please Pete. I have no one else to ask".

He took a deep breathe and sat down.

"He'll kill me if he finds out". He said and I nodded.

"Blame me. I'll be okay".

"Then ask away". He said, smirking after.

I nodded. "What is he"?

He started to laugh. "He didn't tell you"? He asked.

I shook my head. He tells me nothing. "He told me somethings, I know what he is, just not who he is".

"Ever heard of lucifer, the devil, El diablo"? He asked.

I nodded.

"I figured. He just never actually said it. Go on, continue". I smiled.

Pete looked around and leaned in. "If I tell you this stuff, you need to keep it yourself". He whispered. "He made a deal. One deal that changed his life forever".

I kept my eyes on him. "What deal"? I asked.

He sighed and bit the inside of his cheek. He didn't want to tell me but I had to know. For me to be around Colson I need to know what he won't tell me.

"He made a deal with the devil. To give his son a life after he got sick. He promised the devil his life if he could keep his son alive. Well, the devil himself turned his back on Colson but kept the deal. His son lived, but Kells didn't".

I felt my mouth drop. This wasn't anything I expected.

"He had a son. Wait. So the devil killed Colson"? I gasped.

Pete nodded. "This was centuries ago. His son had passed from old age after surviving the death date planned, but he was around. After his son died the devil took Kells soul. What he didn't know was Kells wanted to take the soul of the devil, or at least what that thing had left."

"A battle of the souls"? I asked.

Pete nodded. "When Kells became king, he had a reputation down in hell to maintain. Souls didn't want him to control them, so the souls left, some coming here".

"He's the King of hell"?

Pete nodded again.

"This just doesn't make sense to me. If he's the king of hell. Why is he here and where did those souls go"? I asked.

"If you let me tell the story you won't be confused". He sighed.

I sat back and pretended to zip my lips as he rolled his eyes and continued.

"He's watching out for the lost ones, the ones who left. When some of those souls rose, they went after people he knew. Due to him being King, they can't touch anybody close to him, some just like to push and push".
