Chapter 16

I keep the advice from Dean repeating in my head as I walk towards the entrance to the ring. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. As far as I know, I'm supposed to have a handicap match. And knowing Nikki and Brie, they're not going easy on me. This day has been absolutely exhausting, and it's about to get worse. The most inexperienced girl in the entire world is about to go out, alone, and face two veterans who have a personal hatred against me.
Why the heck couldn't I have just stayed away from John. He was so nice and funny, it's not like I wanted to date him, but he as a great person to get insight from, and just talk to. Why didn't I stay away from him when Nikki warned me...
"Because I'm stubborn, just like my mom" I think to myself. It's true, I've known that my whole life. Someone tells me something, and I automatically want to do exactly the opposite. Ugh.
I tried texting and calling Paige, but nobody's answering. I know she's really hurt, and I wish I could talk to her, and tell her I'm sorry that I got her into this mess. But that's what I seem to do, hurt the people around me.
"Stop it Riley. Focus." I think. This is my biggest moment ever. I need to put on a good show, and just try and do my best to not die. Good strategy...
I squat down, so I'm almost on the floor, and tuck myself into a little ball. This is so stressful, I feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulder. The company has put a lot of faith into this match to help build the divas division again.
"Riley" I hear someone say, and I stand up to come face to face with Stephanie McMahon. Uh oh. She gives me a small sympathetic smile.
"How are you holding up? I heard about Paige" She tells me sweetly. I'm standing with her right in front of the entrance curtain, I can hear Daniel Bryan leading the YES chant, and his music blasts through the arena. He's won the match, so mine is next. My hands are shaking, but I hold them against my thighs in hopes Stephanie won't notice. I need to be professional, and a professional in this situation would stay calm, cool and collected.
"I'm doing alright, I just don't know exactly what's going on. Is it going to be a handicap match?" I ask loudly due to the music blaring and fold my hands in front of me.
"Yes, unfortunately. We have faith in you though. You're just going to go out there and tell the people what happened, so it builds up the match even more, giving you a solid reason to hate the Bella's as much as they hate you!" Steph aggressively tells me, helping me get fired up for this.
"Sounds good, thanks Stephanie!" I tell her and she smiles, and pats my back lightly.

This is it. This is going to be a defining moment. If I screw this up, there's a chance I'll be fired. A good chance.
But, at least the first part of the segment is me talking about what happened to Paige, and giving my side. I literally talk for a living, so this should be a breeze.
"Good luck out there" someone from behind me says. I don't turn around, I can't let the Bella's keep getting to me. Nikki is obviously being fake, Neto meaning a word she says. I know Nikki hates to be ignored, so this seems like the best thing to do.
"Wow, a whore and she's deaf. What a great girl!" Nikki exclaims. Ignore her, ignore her.
"I wonder Brie, if she's a whore because she has daddy issues?" Nikki smugly says, and something inside me snaps. Before I know it, I'm in her face.
"Listen here you little snake, leave my personal life out of this, you're nothing but a cruel, evil, annoying little bitch!" I scream, but she doesn't seem fazed by my words what's so ever. She's got a stupid little smirk on her face, and it pisses me off more.
I feel an arm wrap around my waist, it's a referee who keeps telling me to save it for the ring. I don't break eye contact with Nikki as I send a glare her way. I can't wait to get out there and absolutely rip her face off. The stuff that Brie did to paige was bad, really bad. But her saying that just took it to a whole new level.
"Uh, Riley, sorry to interrupt. You're up." A producer tells me, and Nikki blows me a kiss to piss me off even more.
I was originally supposed to go out with Paige, so I assume I'm using her music since I have none. I really have to fill in the audience on everything that's happened this past week with the Bella's. I sigh, and the music hits. I jump a few times to pump myself up, not that I need it right now. Calm down, calm down. I just need to chill.
"First, making her way to the ring from Toronto, Ontario, Riley!" Justin Roberts exclaims over the microphone, and I come into view of the audience. I think some people are confused to see me without Paige, but I get a fair amount of applause and cheers.
I try to make sure I don't trip, or fall on my face. This is such s huge crowd. People are sitting what seems like miles away, way in the top of the arena. I can't put into words how weird and amazing it is to have so many people with their attention on you. I can't help but smile, even after my little anger attack a few seconds ago, I'm grinning from ear to ear. It's a foreign feeling to be out without paige and her confidence, but it's neat to experience this alone. I approach the ring and climb up the set of stairs to the left where a microphone waits for me. I duck through the first and second rope, and smile at Justin and the other referee.
I slowly wait for it to be quieter, as Paige's music dies down.
"Hey Las Vegas!" I say with a smile, and the crowd erupts at the mention of their hometown. I smile, and again wait for the noise to get quieter.
"So, as you know, I have a match for the first time ever against the Bella's." I roll my eyes at their name to justify my annoyance towards them, and take a deep breath before going into a long story.
"So, the Bella's seem to have some sort of personal vendetta against me. They have it out for me, and I guess tonight was the perfect opportunity for them to make it happen. A few minutes after raw started, Brie Bella attacked Paige, who was supposed to be my tag partner. And right now, Paige is going to the hospital. Apparently it's a broken nose, but we aren't sure yet. So," I turn and look towards the direction of backstage where Nikki and Brie are. The crowd is booing at the fact that the Bella's did that. It makes me feel a little giddy inside that the audience is on my side.
"You've left me partner less, with little to no experience, and I'm in a handicap match. I think that you girls think you've won. But you haven't. Because now you have pumped me up more then ever! And right now, I'm ready to kick some Bella butt, so get down here now!" I scream, and the crowd goes wild over my anger. I don't break my angry facial expression as I stand and wait for the Bella's music to hit.
You can look but you can't touch, you keep dreaming on the stars above.
And there they are. The girls who have single handedly ruined my life in the WWE. They have the exact same smug looks covering their faces, and I scowl as they do their booty shake at the top of the ramp. They have matching red sparkling one pieces, and they actually look almost identical.
I hope that on the outside I look confident and intimidating, but right now on the inside, I'm just not ready. I know what's coming. I wasn't told who the winner was supposed to be, so I'm hoping to just roll with the punches.
"Step away please" a referee whispers in my ear, and I do as told. I move to one of the corners and let them do their thing. I'm ready, this is it. Words can't explain how nervous I am. It was supposed to be a tag match, and Paige was supposed to do most of the work since she's actually a wrestler.
The Bella music dies down, and they yell trash talk at me across the ring that I can't hear. I see camera men trying to get a good angle of my face, and I realize at that moment that Raw is being broadcasted to millions of people around the world. And 3 of those people are my dad and brothers. Whoa... My palms are sweating and i can feel my heartbeat all around my body.
Nikki and Brie whisper to each other, before Nikki ducks under the ropes and stands on the outside, leaving Brie and I to face off first.
Ding dig ding, the bell goes off starting the match.
Suddenly, everything I've been taught this week is gone from my head. I don't remember anything.
I feel a kick in my stomach, and I fall to the mat. Brie stands over me repeatedly kicks me in the stomach while I try and cover myself. Kick, after kick, after kick.
She backs off for a second, and holds her hands up just so she doesn't get disqualified. She leans down and grabs me by my hair, pulling me to my feet.
"Ow, ow!" I scream at her, she's actually hurting me, and pretty badly. I thoughts that most of the punches and kicks were supposed to not connect, that they were supposed to only look real. These are definitely connecting, and their definitely real.
"You think you can mess with the Bella's? Huh?" Brie yells at me, still holding my hair. I punch her in the side of the head, and catch her off guard. She lets go of my hair and brings her hands to her cheek. I take this as an opportunity, and run over to one of the ropes, and fling off of it, trying to get momentum.
Before I get a chance to, my feet are pulled out from behind me, and I fall to my face. I can still see Brie's feet, so it must be someone else. Nikki. She quickly slides in the ring beside me and pulls me to the middle of the ring by my arms, before her and Brie completely attack me. Kicks, punches, everything they can throw at me. I can taste blood, and it's disgusting, and painful. My stomach hurts the most. I pray this can be over. I know I can't defend myself right now, why isn't the red doing anything.
I hear the bell ring, and I realize I won the match via disqualification. It seems to amp up the Bella's more, because they continue to wail on me.
They stop for a second, and I roll over onto my stomach to try and protect it. Brie rolls me back over so my back is to the mat. I see Nikki climbing to the top rope, and before I can comprehend what's happening, she's flying towards me with her body outstretched. She lands on me, and I clench my stomach.
She gets off, and starts to slap me in the face. Brie kicks me a few more times. My vision is beginning to blur, and I can't focus on anything. The crowd, the kicks coming at ,y face, nothing.
After a few more minutes of brutal punishment, everything stops. The girls stop kicking me, and I can see them backing away. I can hear the crowd softly, and they're cheering loudly. What did I do? What happened. Time seems to be going slowly.
I feel myself being dragged from the ring, I watch as Nikki and Brie watch me. They don't look happy or sad or mad, they look just as confused as I feel.
I hit the floor outside the ring hard.
"Ouch" I say to myself.
"Shit, sorry Riley" a voice says. Am I imagining things, am I hearing things? I don't really know. I feel a hand wrap around my back, and an arm slide under my legs, as I am hoisted off the ground. My vision starts to clear up, and I can hear a little more with every step this person takes, time is going back to normal. I know I am about to either black out or throw up. Hopefully neither.
I feel my face brushed with the curtain to the backstage area. They continue to hold me in their arms, comforting me. I feel oddly at peace right now even though there isn't a single bone in my body that doesn't hurt.
"Come on, you can come back to my place" they reassure me as he carries me through backstage. The last thing I remember before I black out is being slugged against Dean's grey tank top as he carries me away.
