The words from yesterday,

They won't be going away.

They hurt more than my knives,

And they last longer than our lives.

Those words are here to stay,

And you can't keep them at bay.

No matter how hard you try,

Those words will never die.

It was so easy for them,

To say that I was no gem.

Did they care at all,

When they made me feel so small?

You had no happiness to lend,

So alone I have to mend,

Whatever I can of my heart,

After they tore it apart.

This heart not even you can fix,

After it's been played with tricks.

It's crumbled to bits,

And one piece never fits.

With the fading blue sky,

I hear your soft sigh.

You finally gave up,

On this sad lost pup.

I'm going to die tonight.

I won't hide from the light.

Darling, I'll say my goodbye.

Hush, love. Please don't cry.

It's crazy that those words could've gone away,

And other words were all you needed to say.

You were scared, and I was too,

But all I needed was an "I love you."

But those words, they couldn't,

And those words, they wouldn't.

They hurt more than my knives,

And they last longer than our lives.
