It has been four days since Dr. Lucarius has disappeared. He left all of his personal belongings behind, including his notes on our most recent discovery. Just as of last month, our team finally struck gold in our exhibition. Figuratively, of course. Amongst the many findings, Dr. Lucarius took it upon himself to translate the text of an old book that seemingly had importance and relation to the surroundings it was found in. I, however, focused more on the text and carvings inscripted into the dusty stone walls. We were working together, for both of us needed to create a translation, and to be frank, the language in question looked unheard of. It was a grotesque conglomeration of lines, geometric shapes, and other recognizable characters that inspired a sense of dread. That feeling of anxiety is still unknown to me or anyone amongst our team, but my current theory is that we all shared a premonition as of what was to come.
Shortly after our findings, Lucarius showed symptoms of insomnia, as he was not only showing the physical change that comes with lack of sleep, but also the psychological effects as well. It was a gradual difference, but one that would be noticed by everyone else even before he became hysterical.
I will not write down all of the details of his derail, only the ones that I deem note-worthy. At the peak of his hysteria, Lucarius spoke of a "King in Yellow" and how he can not ignore the signs being given to him by said king any longer.
I apologize, I can not write any more of him. Reliving the memories of seeing my friend in the most wretched state of mind pains me. I will have to write more on that subject later.
As of right now, I am on a ship headed towards Windhaven, for that is where I believe he would have gone to based off of the last three entries written in his field journal. Whether he is still there, I am unsure. I pray to any benevolent deity that he is there and alive. In the meantime, I will continue to look upon his notes and the book that seemed to have sparked his madness. This voyage is a particularly unsafe one, and anything to get my mind off of potentially dying an untimely death is welcome.
I will write more later.
