The sanatorium was a maze on the inside. Luckily, there were labels everywhere that told me where things were. I wasn't sure exactly where Nurse Marion Chambers was, but I think I can figure it out.
There was a sign that pointed down the hallway. It read 'break room'. Even if Ms. Chambers wasn't there, maybe another nurse who knows where she is would be.
I followed the sign and found a door with the right label on it. I opened the door and looked inside. There were two girls sitting at a table. They were having a conversation with each other until I walked in.
"Y/N? You did get a job here. I didn't think you would." I made eye contact with the one person I didn't want to see.
"Oh hey Emma." I walked into the room fully, shutting the door behind me. "Do you know where Nurse Marion Chambers is?"
Emma looked at me and the other nurse. It made me feel self-conscious that she was Nurse Chambers, and I would be embarrassed. Both girls shrugged their shoulders at me.
"She might be in the cafeteria, helping with the lunch rush." The other girl spoke, "it's just down the hall and to the right."
"Thank you, I'll head there now." I left without even thinking of introducing myself. I'm sure I'll have time to do it later, I just needed to get out of the same room as Emma.
I found myself once again looking at the signs and following them to the cafeteria. There were large double doors that I assumed was the entrance. There wasn't anyone outside. The inside was the opposite. Guards, nurses, and patients were all over the place doing different things. I had no idea what nurse Marion looked like. It was time to ask around.
"Are you supposed to be in here?" A man grabbed onto my shoulder in a more aggressive manner than I thought was necessary.
"I'm a new nurse. Do you know where Nurse Marion Chambers is?" I pulled my arm out of his grasp.
"Sorry about that." He scratched behind his head, obviously embarrassed. "Marion is only here sometimes. If she's here, she should be in the corner with the smaller security patients." He pointed to the corner of the room.
"Yeah, there she is. She has brown curly hair." My eyes followed his finger to see the woman standing next to a patient, trying to get him to eat.
"Thank you." I turned back to the guard for a second.
"No problem. I'm Carter, by the way." He held his hand out to me, "Don't be afraid to ask me for help. I work with heavy security patients, though, so I don't know how much we would be seeing each other."
I glanced over at the patients he was working with. There were only a few of them. One even looked at me with a smile and waved before his head was pushed back down by another guard. Another one was looking at Carter with a death glare. The patient sparked my interest immediately. I swear I've seen him before, but he looks like someone I would definitely remember. He had curly brown hair with a scar going straight down his left eye. The patients eyes moved towards mine, giving me a chill when we looked at each other. I swear his expression softened when he saw me. That was until the guard pushed his head back down towards the plate of uneaten food in front of him.
"It's nice to meet you, Carter. I'm Y/N." I take his hand and shake it while we talk. "I'm sure I'd still see you around anyway."
Carter and I said our goodbyes before we split ways. I went to the corner of the room to meet with the nurse Marion.
"Excuse me? You're nurse Marion Chambers, right? I'm new and I was told that I need to talk to you." The woman looked up at me from the patient before handing the spoon to another nurse. The other nurse took over her previous job.
"Yes, you must be Y/N. Welcome to Smiths Grove." She said with a warm smile. "I'm going to give you a small tour of the place. I'm not sure who you're supposed to be working with so we can make a quick stop to find out."
"Sounds good to me." I stood still, waiting for her next move.
"Follow me." She started to walk through the cafeteria.
"This is obvious the cafeteria, and you already know where the front desk is." The nurse walked outside into the hallway.
"To the right are the bathrooms and shower rooms." She held a hand up to point in the right direction. I glanced that way but couldn't see the actual rooms, only the signs.
"This way is the offices and the staff rooms. Right down this hallway are the patien cells. Past that is the nursing station where there is medicine and whatever you could possibly need." The tour was much shorter than I thought it would be. I didn't even see most of the things, I was only pointed in the direction of the rooms.
I continued to follow the nurse. She brought me straight to one of the offices. The title on the door read 'Dr. Samuel Loomis'. That name sounded familiar, but I just couldn't figure out who it was. She knocked on the door, and a voice inside told us to come in.
We walked inside the office to see a familiar face. I knew it to be the doctor who had the gun when there was a killer in my house.
"Hello, Dr. Loomis." Nurse Marion started to speak, "I was wondering if you know what the new nurses' schedule is."
"Y/N? So you did get a job here. I have orders for you... but I think I'm going to change them." He spoke while sifting through papers.
