Y/n is thirteen

Summary: it's Y/n's last day of school and Elijah takes her out for ice cream.

-

Y/n walks out of school and sees Elijah waiting with the other parents in his usual suit. She smiles and runs up to him and hugs him.

"Hi, Dad." Y/n smiles as she parts from her dad.

"Hello, darling." Elijah smiles. "Would you like to get some ice cream?" He asks.

Y/n raises her eyebrows. "I'm sorry, is this the same man who told me I wasn't allowed ice cream because it was unhealthy?"

Elijah chuckles. "Well, I've changed my mind. It's your last day of school." Elijah says.

Y/n smiles. "Ok. Let's go get ice cream." She and Elijah walk to a local parlour and sit outside.

"What should we do this summer?" Elijah asks. Y/n shrugs.

"I dunno." She says. "It's summer. We can go on a trip. Or go to the beach or the lake."

"Why don't we go on a trip back to New Orleans?" Elijah suggests. Y/n nods.

"Sure. I miss New Orleans." She smiles. Elijah nods.

"Then it's settled." He says. "We'll go to New Orleans and visit our friends."

"Our friends?" Y/n asks making Elijah chuckles. "You mean the friends who haven't seen me since I was two years old."

"Yes, those friends." Elijah nods. "Now, let's get home."

Home doesn't even feel like home to Y/n. Her home is, well, she doesn't know. But it's somewhere. And she will find it.

Eventually.

-

A few days later, Y/n finds herself sitting in her dad's car as they drive out of Virginia and to New Orleans.

"Can I play some music?" Y/n asks.

"Good music. Not that stuff they listen to these days." Elijah says. Y/n raises her eyebrows.

"Stuff they listen to these days?" She asks. "Dad, have you listened to the music of today?"

"Have you?" He asks.

"Yes, actually, I have." Y/n says. "And you'd be surprised how many good songs there are."

"Really? Like who."

Y/n chuckles and pulls out her CD's and searches for her Taylor Swift album, Fearless.

"Taylor Swift." Y/n states as she pulls out the CD and puts it into the player. The first song on the album begins to play and Y/n begins to sing along.

Elijah chuckles when he sees his daughter singing happily. After a few more hours, they arrive in New Orleans.

Waiting outside is another Mikaelson. Klaus. Y/n gets out of the car with her father and Klaus smiles at his niece. "Ah, Y/n, lovely to see you again. It seems as though your father forgot to tell me the two of you were visiting." He says.

"Yes, well, we wanted a peaceful summer vacation." Elijah says.

Klaus holds his arms out for Y/n. "Aren't you going to give me a hug?"

Y/n turns to Elijah, then back to Klaus. "Are you going to stake me?" She asks.

Klaus sighs and puts his arms down. For reference, the last time Y/n saw Klaus, he tried to stake her.

"Fair enough." Klaus says. "What shall we do first? Food? Hotel? Museum?"

"We are going to our hotel, Niklaus. Not you." Elijah says. "Get in the car, Y/n."

The girl does as she's told and gets into the car as her father and uncle talk. Once they're finished, Elijah gets into the car. "What happened?"

"Nothing. It's all ok." Elijah says. "Let's go to the hotel."

Without any questions, Y/n allows her father to drive her away. The girl has always been a little scared of her Uncle Klaus, but he's harmless, sometimes.

"We won't be seeing him all summer, will we?" Y/n asks. Elijah shakes his head.

"I can promise you, this is the last time we'll see him for the summer."
