Summary: Y/n comes home from school upset because she didn't do well on a test.

Y/n walks into her house, a sigh escaping her lips. Payback sits in the living room, watching something on TV. "Hey, baby! How was school?"

"Don't wanna talk about it." Y/n grumbles as she walks upstairs to her bedroom.

Payback furrows his brows and gets up, following his daughter upstairs. Y/n closes her bedroom door and lays on her bed. Payback knocks softly on the door, hoping she'll come out.

"Y/n?" Payback asks. "Baby, can I come in?"

A mumble can be heard from the other side of the door. Payback takes this as an affirmative to walk in. He enters the room and leans against the doorway.

"What's going on?" Payback asks as he looks at his daughter.

"Nothing. Go away." Y/n grumbles.

Payback raises an eyebrow. "Y/n, can you tell me what's wrong?" He asks.

"It's fine." Y/n grumbles. Payback rolls his eyes and sits down on the bed.

"Hey, you can tell me. I'm not gonna judge you, you know that." Payback reassures.

Y/n sniffles and sits up. Payback raises his eyebrows and puts his hand on her knee. "What's going on, sweetheart?" He asks softly.

"I failed my chem test." She grumbles.

"And that's making you sad?" Payback asks. Y/n nods. "It's just one test, honey."

"It's not just one test." Y/n snaps back.

Payback raises his eyebrows. "Don't take that tone with me, Y/n." He says. "I get you're mad but you can't talk to me like that."

"I just don't like that you think of it as just one test because it's not." Y/n says. "I worked really hard and I failed!"

"What grade was it?" Payback asks.

Y/n sighs. "I got a C." She huffs. Payback raises his eyebrows.

"You're mad about a C?" He asks. Y/n nods. "Alright, well, I wasn't expecting that."

"What do you mean?"

"A C is a pass, honey." Payback says. "You still passed."

"It doesn't feel like a pass." Y/n grumbles.

"Hey," Payback says as he puts an arm around Y/n's shoulders. "It's one grade. There's going to be plenty more."

Y/n sniffles. "Hey, no tears. It's just one test." Payback says as he wipes her eyes. "How about I order some pizza and we watch Avatar?"

"Really?" Y/n asks. Payback chuckles and nods.

"Yes, really." He says.

Y/n hugs her father tightly. "Thank you, dad." She whispers.
