Azul got teleported to right outside his mother's restaurant, 'The Shiny Pearl'. Azul doesn’t know why she named it that, but he liked it.
Azul held his hands firm on his satchel and used his tentacles to sway the makeshift seaweed door. It was a busy house, but Azul went around the line anyway. He was the owner's son, after all.
The regulars that Azul recognized welcomed him back to the Coral Sea. Some old dolphin mer yelled for his mother to come over. Azul could hear the kitchen rattling differently than before, she was probably handing things over to the other mers to deal with.
Azul saw the black tentacles of his mother sways the seaweed away, then the rest that followed. After most of his mother's tentacles came out, her head did also. She was smiling so big and brightly at the sight of Azul. She immediately went to hug him, all her tentacles hugging him.
“I missed you, my sweet boy”. Her hug was suffocating, but Azul allowed it. He missed his mother and knew that she missed him just as much.
“I missed you too”. He hugged her back, though he had to sway the hair from his face. His mother's hair seemed to have grown over his time at NRC, from a pixie cut to shoulder length.
His mother was a big and beautiful woman. She had always eaten well and was not ashamed of it. She normally had a pixie cut to not let the hair get in the way of her cooking. She seems to have let it grow recently, though she would probably cut it when she deemed it an annoyance. And much like him, she had a mole near her mouth, but on her right side.
She is a very caring woman. She took Kai under her care when she found him by himself in a cave. She treated both equally and never chose sides without reason. She was excellent at potions, she said that she got it from Grandmimi and that she was a natural. She always was willing to tell stories about herself but when high school came into it, she wouldn't say a word.
“Where are Grandmimi’s hugs? Hmmm?" Azul and his mother broke the hug to look at his Grandmother. “Cece, how dare you deny me, my grandchild”.
“I'm not denying you, anything mom, I was hugging him”. His mother moved from him and went to his grandma with a frown.
“Why did you choose his version? Why Grandmimi?”. Azul went to his Grandmimi and hugged her. “Better now?”.
She hugged him back. “Yes”.
“Where're my hugs?”. Kai, that bastard expecting hugs after that prank! Wait, why was he hugging Grandmimi? She was in on it!
Azul pushed his Grandmimi off of him and used his tentacles to wrap around Kai. Azul squeezed him tighter until his mother had to slap his tentacles so he would stop. Azul let him go, but very slowly. “That's for the prank, and don’t think I won’t get my revenge, Grandma!”.
“Now hug me, you poor excuse for an octopus mer!”. Kai went to hug him, but Azul pushed him off. “How dare you! I gave you a seashell!”.
Kai was a mer shark. His full name now was Kai Caspian S. Ashengrotto since his mother took full custody of him, thanks to the help of his stepfather. He has messy gray hair with black strands. It is very messy so he ties a portion of it to match his dorsal fin. He has a scar on both his face and hands, from the time when his parents got captured. He has very sharp teeth, even sharper than Floyd's.
