“Miss Leech, the mers have missed your loss from yesterday”. A stingray mer with only one of her eyes left came to Melania.
Melania was obviously tired. “That's a weird taste in my mouth”. She looked up at the stingray. “You're the one who lost our map? The idiot I had to take an eye from?”. Melania seemed interested in taking her other eye.
“I have a snitch, or two”.
“I'm listening”.
“Let’s discuss it with Mister Leech, I trust it will be worth his time”.
Melania took the stingray by the braid in her hair. “It better be”.
As much as the stingray wanted to resist, she was glad to still have some vision left.
Melaina guided her to Sullivan's office. Just even being outside the room, she could feel it in the water that it was off limits. That didn’t stop Melania from just barging in like the office was hers.
“Sull, I have 2 problems and I expect you to fix them both”. Melaina swayed the stingray mer to be right in front of Sullivan. “1. I have a weird taste in my mouth. 2. This stingray wants to snitch on someone and says it’s worth both of our times”.
“If it ain’t worth our time then say bye to your other eye”. Sullivan focused his attention on her. “Name and status”.
“Astelrai Pastinaca, and common soldier”. She had served in the Atlantic military so she became a soldier right away when she was scouted for her crimes. She knew what to do to stay safe and how to fight, but she lost the map because her team didn’t like rookies and she was ambushed by a great white. “Call me Astel for short please Mister Leech”.
“What do you have for us? I’m a very busy man”.
“I caught 2 snitches who you know more than most mers”.
“Everyone who I know personally is loyal to me”. Sullivan wanted Melania to take the girls other eye already.
“Even your own sons? Sorry for making the assumption that your sons carried out the spell successfully instead of flunking it like they planned on”. Astel made the risky move of turning around, but she knew she was safe.
Melania grabbed Astels braid. It was hard to miss, especially since it went down to the bottom of her tail. “Don’t you leave just yet”.
“Do you know what spell?”. Sullivan knew the twins flunked the spell, and she was proof. She was in need of a promotion.
“No, but I do remember them mentioning that they didn’t want you to take over their life. I won’t intrude on you, but if it sounds likely then I personally would take it into consideration”. She had him right where she wanted him. What a good feeling.
“How did you end up here?”. Melania was examining Astel’s face. She was a darker spotted brown stingray, so she was home to more rocky areas. She had yellow pupils with a black iris and black where you would normally find the white of someone's eye. Melania noticed something move on the top of Astel’s head. She moved the hair to see that the stingray mer had a whole other set of eyes on top of her head. “Fun”. Melaina poked the left eye.
