30 : missing-in-action

Hyejin looks outside the cafe's window. The road is not that busy this evening but she still can see people driving back home. She looks around and see a lot of strange face.

Actually, she is waiting for someone to suddenly disturb her and said something that would triggered her. But, unfortunately, that someone is went missing-in-action since Wednesday.

“He really acting weird. I could feel something is not right.”

Soyoung, his secretary said he has something to do but didn't tell what is it. She wants to asked Jungwon but she still awkward to face the younger boy. Her curiosity still remain in her mind.

What Jungwon do at Jaeyun's penthouse?

As she was spacing out, someone tapped her shoulder and she quickly look up. Her eyes got widen when she saw Ethan stood behind her with a cup of smoothie.

“Can I joining you?” he asked and Hyejin slowly nodded. Ethan took a seat right in front Hyejin with a bright smile on it.

“What are you doing here, Ethan? It's quite far from your office right?” she asked and he answered, “I met a friend, she works nearby so I think maybe I will meet you here.”

“How is your day lately? I haven't heard about you since our dinner. I will fly back to Australia tomorrow morning by the way.” Ethan added.

Hyejin was flustered. She don't know what to reply because not even once she think about Ethan. On her mind is always Jaeyun, Jaeyun and Jaeyun. He always on her mind.

“Fine, I guess? I'm too exhausted because of work and Mr Jake didn't allow us to stay for a few days. We don't know the reason and the cause of his missing-in-action.” she replied with a little smile.

Ethan who already know the reason behind Jaeyun's sudden missing-in-action just nodded. Jaeyun didn't allow him to tell anyone about his mom condition. Not even to Hyejin.

I thought they are friends.

Why he's keep it to himself?

Something is off.

They talked a little before Hyejin excused herself because her mom already call her. Ethan who understood also decided to leave. A smirked was formed on his face the moment he got into the car.

“Poor little girl Hyejin.” he uttered while speeding on the road.

Meanwhile, at the hospital. Jaeyun trying really hard to feed his mom but the middle age woman kept pushing him away. Looking at Jaeyun's face already makes her appetite gone.

“Mom, please, eat a little. Doctor said, you need to eat something and take the medicine after. You haven't eaten since this morning.” Jaeyun tried to reach Mrs Sim hands but get pushed instead.

Jaeyun let out a heavy sigh, he won't let this happen. Mrs Sim condition isn't that bad but he's so worried because his mom haven't consume any food yet. It's only make her condition worse.

“Mom, tell me, what should I do to make sure you're eating well? Don't make us worry mom, especially Hana.” he added and Mrs Sim groaned when she looks at Jaeyun.

“Park Hyejin.”

“What? Mom, no—”

“I don't care! I want to meet her. I don't want to eat something that your filthy hands already touched.” Jaeyun was flustered when he heard those words.

She shouldn't know about this.

But, amongst of people I know.

I can trust her the most.

“Alright, Mom. I will bring Hyejin here but we need a deal. I feed you today and I will bring Hyejin tomorrow. How about that?” he asked softly.

Mrs Sim look in one direction, thinking about her son suggestions. Slowly, she nodded and agreed with the deal. Remember that her son is the boss so she could asked him to give Hyejin a few days off.

“Thanks, God!”

Jaeyun held the plate again and took a seat next to his mom. With a bright smile he started to feed Mrs Sim. He should make sure he didn't disappointed his mom again, even the smallest thing.

“Since you are here... How's work?” she suddenly asked while took a sip of mineral water.

“Woah, that's new mom—I'm sorry!” he rubbed his forehead that flicked by Mrs Sim. Awkwardly laughed he answered her question, “everything is going well, so don't worry, mom.”

“Oh, really? How about Hyejin? You should stop playing around with her.” Jaeyun was shocked. “What? Do you think I don't know what happened in your office?”

“Mom, that's not—”

“If you want to play and be dumb again, so I, as your mom suggest you to stop. Our family reputation is really important now so stop.”

“Mom, we have—”

“If you don't love her then let her go. Do not wasting her time. Hyejin is a nice girl, I wish she is my daughter-in-law but looking at you...”

“Mom, stop! Fine, I love her, mom! I can purpose to her right in front of you if you want too!”

Mrs Sim raised her eyebrows and scoffed. A soft laughed was heard her lips and slowly turned into a very contagious one.

“If you say so, Jaeyun.”
