After traveling all night and morning, dodging villages and stealing food, the three made it through the cornfield and gasped in amazement at the white castle before them.
"That's it! that's it right there!" Donkey yelled as he hopped on his hooves in excitement.
"Are you always this hyper?" Jack spoke with a yawn as he stretched his arms into the air.
"Yes! And you!" He spoke as he playfully glared at Shrek. "I told you I'd find it!" The male rolled his eyes before coming to a complete stop and stared.
"So, that must be lord Farquaad's castle." Soon a devious smile took over his lips making Jack raise an eyebrow. "Do you think maybe he's compensating for something?" He busted out laughing while Jack looked ahead, allowing his mind to buffer at a slow pace until realization took over his features.
"You're sick." The male laughed again before both looked towards Donkey who tilted his head towards the side, clearly not understanding the joke. Shrek sighed and walked towards the entrance with the two close behind. They watched a couple walk through the entrance with a male in what appeared to be a human mascot costume waving them off with a cheer.
"Hey, you! Excuse me!" The male smiled and happily turned around but gasped in horror as he laid eyes on the three.
"Oh! OH NO!" He quickly turned tail and ran away making the three frown and watch dumbfounded as the male ran in between the ropes that created a path.
"Look! I'm not gonna eat you. I just-" The three watched as the talk was futile as the male continued to scream and run. Shrek balled his fists up in anger but soon exhaled and walked forward, not caring if he ruined the blue rope.
The mascot didn't pay attention and ran straight into the wall near the entrance making the three look down at him in concern before walking through the metal bars. The two males made it through and went to continue but paused at a certain clicking noise. They both turned around with raised eyebrows, seeing Donkey stuck in between the bars. With his last grunt, he pushed forward violently sending him tumbling to the floor.
He looked up and chuckled in embarrassment before standing up fully and walking towards the two. Shrek sighed and shook his head while Jack laughed and looked on ahead as they continued their quest.
The three looked around in disturbing amazement at their surrounding area. The houses looked exactly the same as one another, how would people know which ones were there's? In the middle of the town were large green patches with what the three assumed was Farquaads head in the center.
"Well, this guy is surely full of himself," Jack muttered making Shrek snort and nod. They continued to walk around a bit more but slowed their steps as an eerie feeling crawled up their spine.
"It's...quiet," Shrek whispered as he looked around the deserted town. "...too quiet. Where is everybody?"
"Maybe we can get our answers from that!" Donkey took off towards the side causing the men to follow close behind. Donkey ran towards a wall with what appeared to be a small sculpture of a house residing with the word INFORMATION written at the top. He quickly pulled the lever that stood on the side before backing up between the men.
