London
October 3rd

Her cell phone rang. She hated that sound.

Nora had just gotten through the door when her cell phone rang again. Glancing at the display, she realized it was her boss. She quickly got rid of her coat and shook off her boots.

"Good evening," Nora said in her friendly, professional work voice as she answered the call. There she was, as soon as she came home from work, work came home to her.

Great.

She jammed the cell phone under her ear and walked into the large room on the first floor. As she entered the room, she saw that only Sully was there.

That made sense since Dris and Dushane were at their houses at nights when there was no criminal activity. Nora rolled her eyes disdainfully.

She glanced around the room, looking for a place to work on her laptop while her boss told her something about a client. Nora was back in the thick of work, getting slammed with cases. Why her boss felt the need to throw extra work at her after hours was a mystery to her.

The only place to properly work was the chair in front of the small dining room table where Sully was currently sitting, grimly typing on his cell phone. Yes, she and Sully were not on good terms right now, and yes, he was a complete asshole, but she needed this seat to work right now.

She tried to make it clear to Sully with angry waving that he should get up.

But he sat wide-legged on her chair, looked at her hypocritically and did nothing to give up the seat for her.

Her mouth aggressively formed the word "move" without actually saying it.

Nothing.

He didn't move one centimeter.

They hadn't exchanged a word for the last 24 hours since he had returned with wounds all over his face and body. Nora had gotten no explanation. When they did talk, Sully bugged her so much.

They made each other angry, and Nora couldn't put into words how angry it made her now that this idiot wouldn't give her the space to work. It was a matter of principle: he wanted her to live here and now she was going to sit on the floor and work?

Certainly not.

"This is my house," he murmured, looking back into his phone as the display flashed from a new text message.
"Sit on the couch," he said without looking at her, nodding and pointing to the next room.

Again anger arose in Nora, like every time she had to talk to Sully or just be in the same room as him. He always had to give her a hard time. His manner made her so incredibly aggressive.

"Interesting, yes, that does sound like a good approach," Nora continued the call in her professional voice as she tried to convince Sully to stand up with the phone tucked under her ear and the laptop in her hand.

Then a flash of inspiration struck Nora.

If he had the audacity to sit in her seat, she would just sit in her seat, too.

Simple.

What a master plan.

Her boss continued talking on the phone while Nora made eye contact and then walked toward Sully.

Nora didn't know where the sudden courage came from, it was like she just stopped thinking in a matter of seconds. She acted impulsively, not thoughtfully.

She bridged the distance between them, turned around and sat on his lap.

A good idea?
Probably not.
