London
Oct. 31st

It was Halloween and Nora woke up to the piercing and incredibly annoying sound of her cell phone alarm resounding through her small room. She fumbled for her cell phone and pressed it sleepily until the nerve-wracking sound died away.

After rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she wondered for a moment if Sully was still there. She glanced at the empty space beside her on the mattress. He must have left after she fell asleep.
Lost in thought, she got up and went to the bathroom. The house was silent, it was dark outside. It was five in the morning, a normal time for Nora to get up.

She brushed her teeth and tied her curls into a neat bun, leaving two thin, curly strands of hair framing her face on the right and left sides. As she worked through a skin care routine one by one, her mind wandered and the fear that last night had been just a dream caught up with her.

Why would all this be happening?
Why would Sully be talking to her?
Why the hell wasn't he in the hospital if he'd been shot?
Why was everyone in the house so stressed out that Dushane had even put a gun in her face?

Nora went to her suitcase with the clothes and picked out her outfit for work. Then she took another look at her cell phone and realized to her dismay that 45 minutes had already passed and she really had to go.

So she hurried down the stairs, her purse under her arm, and put on her boots and coat downstairs. Another quick look in the small, dirty mirror in the entrance area and she was ready to go. She had already called an uber via app, and soon the notification that her driver was there rang out with a bing.

She quietly opened the front door, careful not to wake anyone, and exited the house. It was still dark outside and had apparently been raining, for puddles reflected the lantern lights on the asphalt.

She saw the uber from further away and was walking across the lot when her eyes suddenly fell on the black Range Rover that Sully was driving.

The windshield was smashed.
Nora's heart stopped.

Was this a halloween joke?

Immediately she looked around, but there was no one to be seen except her and the uber-car, its engine humming through the stillness of the early morning hours.

Then she fixed her gaze back on the smashed car window and hesitantly stepped closer.

This was no joke.

The paint on the sides of the car was scratched. The side mirrors had been chipped off.
Slowly, Nora let her hand slide over the car, still in shock.

Then her inner lawyer came out, she pulled herself together and took pictures of the damage from all sides of the car with her cell phone.

She owed these people absolutely nothing, but this car looked like someone could use some legal help.

Now while she was taking a photo with flash to accurately illuminate the damage, she saw something golden-bronze flashing in the flash. She lowered the phone and stepped closer.

A bullet?

Nora bent over it and saw that it was undamaged, with no blood, dirt or glass on it, apparently someone had put it here rather than actually fired it. Nora did not touch the bullet so as not to leave fingerprints on it, but with her long gel nails she turned it over.

She rolled it over until she saw letters.

Sully.

Sully's name was carved into the bullet.

Nora's heart skipped a beat and she jerked her hand back. Then she took a few steps back before hurriedly running toward the uber.

What the hell was going on here? Had someone been here this night?
