His eyes rolled behind his eyelids as he took in the scent, his tongue grazing the skin softly, he loved how it tasted, how warm it was.

They focused on the being in front of him, taking the majestic creature that lay before him, naked and bare for his eyes only, how lucky he was.

His expression turned to concern when blood left their mouth, the same warm liquid now dripping from his hands, from his mouth, he had bit them, eaten at them.

"Why did you do this to me? You're my mate..."

Devan sat up rapidly in the bed, sweat dripping from every pore on his skin, the dreadful nightmare still freshly printed in his mind.

"What the fuck was that..?" He breathed out rapidly, passing a hand through the wet locks that covered his forehead, his eyes squinting as he tried to remember the persons face to no success.

One after the other, Devan pushed his legs off the uncomfortable mattress while staring at the door, how he hated staying in this place, they had at least changed his room to a more comfortable one, despite his strongest efforts to flee the place.

He wondered how the others were doing, if Liam had finally mated with Narcia, if Matheo was alright... Matheo... It reminded him of that fight he had with his father the day before, how he had reaked of the boy's scent.

"He better not have fucking hurt him..." Devan groaned as he rubbed his face, there was no way he could allow this to continue on, he needed to leave this place and makes sure everyone was alright.

Devan stood up, pacing around the room as he tried to think, maybe he could somehow break through the door if he shifted, he hated the idea however, his form repulsed him to great lengths.

"I have no other choice... I need to make sure that—" He started before his phrase was cut by the smell of blood, his pupils slitting as he looked at the door, but not directly at it, he was looking past it, towards the room at the end of the corridor.

He knew that blood, he knew it all too well.

He had tasted it, smelled it, bathed almost in it, he remembered so clearly, the night Matheo had bled for him, to help him be normal, or as normal as he could be in this situation.

"Matheo!" He yelled as he rushed to the door, banging on it like his life depended on it, he should have known they wanted to do this, they had caught Matheo, and they were going to torture Devan with the screams of his friend.

"Fuck! Open the door!" He yelled to the guard that stood outside his door, the man sighed and opened the small window to look at Devan before shaking his head.

"I cannot do that young lord, your father was adamant that you stay in your cell."

"I understand that Amadeel, but please, for all the years you looked over me, help me out. I need to get out immediately!" Devan pleaded, the guard's eyes softening for a moment as it looked down at the ground, pensive.

"Your father will kill me if I let you out, young lord."

"Fuck! I need to! My friend is in there!" Devan yelled as he pointed toward the cell, his eyes tearing up as he imagined all of the things his father might have done to poor Matheo.

"I... I might be able to help that friend of yours, but it will most likely cost me my life as well." Amadeel said as Devan gritted his teeth, Amadeel had been the nicest of cannibals he had ever met, the guy was one by birth but kind hearted, he knew he would accept to lay his life down if Devan pushed.

It hurted him, to have to send this guy to his death, but the man was unsalvageable, having feasted on many shifters during his life, he could not return to its animal like Devan could.
