"I'm about as stuffed as a turkey an hour before Thanksgiving dinner," said Maury. "And speakin' of stuffed, I'm going to take a nap."

"Sweet dreams," said Hadley.

She looked at Lou Edna.

"You going to catch up on your beauty sleep, too?"

"Nah," said Lou Edna.

She looked around the room.

"I just noticed something, Hadley."

"What's that?"

"There ain't no television in this room. Oh well, I've heard of the places that yank the boob tube from the walls. It's supposed to let you disconnect or some such nonsense."

"You're right," she said. "Do you want me to call down to the desk for one?"

"Nah."

Hadley pulled out a couple of paperbacks.

"Hadley," Lou Edna said. "Show me how this tablet thing works."

"You serious?"

"Course I am," said Lou Edna.

"It's really simple," she said. "Here, watch this."

Within a few minutes, Lou Edna had mastered the tablet without too many flub-ups. Hadley picked up her novel and settled in on a couch.

"Why do I get the idea that I've just handed the keys to Dr. Frankenstein for his new laboratory?" asked Hadley.

Lou Edna looked over the top of the screen and smiled.

"No porn, Lou," Hadley said. "I mean it."

"Never crossed my mind," said Lou Edna.

For once, Lou Edna was telling the truth. She tapped the letters in the search bar slowly. She wanted to make sure she was absolutely correct.

"Any problems," said Hadley, "just give me a yell."

"I will," said Lou Edna.

The little crease between Lou Edna's eyebrows deepened.

Looked pretty good. She had a laptop at the shop, but she only used it for business. This was fun, she decided.

Hadley said this thing wasn't too particular when it came to capital letters. Lou Edna hit 'search' and waited for the search engine to populate her screen with choices. This thing was incredible. And so fast. Maybe she should see about getting one. Elwin had seen just about every shade of pink negligee known to man.

Her eyes popped when she clicked on the first choice and began reading.
