Daylight!
She couldn't be sure, but Hadley thought she saw the rays from the sun up ahead.
"Come on, Ollie! I think we're gonna make it!"
She looked behind.
"Ollie?"
No one was with her. It was as if the child had vanished, had been abducted by aliens. Where had you gone? Hadley had no time to wonder. The ground began to shake beneath her feet. Would the earth open and swallow her up? She struggled not to fall. She ran for the opening as hard as she could.
