"We're on the other side of the county line, aren't we?" Maury asked.
"Yep," said Lou Edna. "Bill's jurisdiction is that way."
Lou Edna pointed toward the motor court's office.
"Shoot," said Hadley. "I had a run-in with Robert Onslow a few years ago. That is one mean man."
"You said it," said Maury. "Bill says that Robert Onslow is sigogglin, for sure."
"I'll say," said Hadley. "He is as crooked as a paved mountain road, and the work crew followed the snake's path with the asphalt truck."
"Come on," said Maury. "This place gives me the creeps."
"We have overstayed our welcome," Hadley said.
"Look!" Lou Edna said. "The sun's coming up!"
