JUNIPER HAD A BIG CHOICE AND not much time to decide. she knew what she thought was right, and what she was sure she wanted to do. but in the back of her mind lingered her shy, introverted husband.

like most knew they weren't on the best terms but she still took his feelings into consideration. she pranced down the hall, late at night as she opened george's door, making  him perch up.

"i'm sorry to wake you george. but i have something bothering my sleep." juniper says as she sighs, taking a seat on the edge of george's bed. "what's the matter june?" he asks, dressing himself quickly.

"nothing is the matter with me, it is you i am concerned about." juniper says swatting george's hands away from her face, him checking for a fever. "what do you mean?" he asks. "i have a problem." she says as he gives her a confused look.

"lady danbury is hosting the first hall of the season and all of the blancs avec des titres are refusing to go. which is very rude." juniper lets out as george gives her a confused look. "whites with titles," she says as he lets out a small snicker that juniper thought was cute.

"ok, well... why does that make you worried for... me?" george asks, his cold icy hand slipping behind jumpers neck. "it- it is because i know you are introverted. and i wish to attend. to show them that their opinion means rien to me, nor to lady danbury." jumpier says, anger lacing brought her voice.

"rien?" george asks slightly tilting his head. "nothing." juniper says sternly as george lets out a breathy chuckle. "i'll attend." george says simply. "you'll attend?" juniper asks as he shakes his head.

"what's with the change of heart?" she asks humorously as he looks at her. "what ever your majesty says... goes." he says, leaning in and whispering the last part in her ear, sending shivers down her spine.

"stop that george." she says adamantly. "stop what your majesty?" he says teasing. he knew she hated being called that. but for some reason hearing it come from his mouth didn't seem as bad.

"i must go to bed." she says, getting up. "at least allow me to give my wife a goodnight kiss." he says, gently grabbing her arm and pressing his lips to hers. "goodnight, george." she says, pulling away and rushing to her room.

as she settled into bed, her hand lightly hovered over her lips once connected with george's, she heard a soft knock. as she tied her robe she went and opened it to find brimsley standing with a grim look on his face.

"yes brimsley?" she asks as he hands her a letter then walks off. "ok.." she mumbles confused as she shuts the door and lights a candle. she then sees who it's from as she takes a seat at her desk.

"father." she mumbles as she rips it open.

[the underlined is crossed out in the letter]

dearest junie,

i am to be wed in two weeks time. i hope to see you there. catherine is a nice woman, and she's heard so much about you- very eager to meet you. i hope all is well with you and the king. i miss and love you.

love sincerely, father

"he's not serious." juniper says as she stands up. the last thing junipers father told her mother before she died was that he'd never find a another love. no one else to replace his soul that she carried.

and now he lied. he lied to her and juniper. juniper wasn't a very violent person but she just began throwing things. she threw books, candles and many more as her door bursted open. "june?" george asks as he sees juniper crying and reaching for the letter.

she then puts it over the flame as it quickly catches fire. "juniper!" he yells as he rushes over to the letter and stomps the fire out. he then reads what hadn't been charred as he stared at her sadly.

"he's a liar." she says, tears streaming down her face. "he- he told my mother on her death bed
that he would never find another love. et il a l'audace de dire qu'il espère que je suis là?" juniper yells as george goes to her side.

"juniper, i don't not understand." he mumbles softly as she sighs through tears. "he has the audacity to say he hopes i'm there.." juniper repeats with a colder tone. "i- i'm sorry." george says. "please don't be." juniper says as she lays her head on his shoulder.

"let's get you to bed." he says softly and before juniper can stand he picks her up and gently places her in the bed. she didn't know what time she fell asleep after. but george was adamant about not leaving.

when june woke up she met by the paler man sleeping next to her. his soft snores radiated in the room as juniper took a look at what he had clutched in his hand. as she softly took it from her hands she could've sworn a small tear fell.
