GEORGE ALWAYS THOUGHT JUNIPER had a way with words. and once they got back from her fathers wedding he realized she really did. he knew it seemed odd that the king never attended anything but he didn't want to hear it from anyone.that was until juniper told him that their castle walls were too high, and he knew it was true. he could barely sleep the night before, eat the morning of. but when it was finally time to go all his worries eased him as juniper walked down the stairs.
she wore a faint lilac gown with stars and other astronomy things surrounding it. she wore her hair loosely up with a few pieces of curls hanging out just how george liked. "you are beautiful." he whispers in her ear as he takes her hand.
"pourquoi merci." juniper says with a smile as george helps her to her carriage. "separate ones remember? i'll see you soon." he says as he closes the door for her. what he didn't know was that juniper was a bit on edge.
she wanted to go to the ball to support lady danbury but she also couldn't get the thought out of her mind. the thought that she might've been pregnant. as she dressed herself, due to her request to be alone, she couldn't help but run her hands over her stomach wondering what it would be like.
she knew that if it was a boy they'd probably name him george but she couldn't stop herself from thinking of names suitable for her other kids. all of her worries washed away though because she just knew deep down she would be a great mother.
as they arrived the ball seemed to be on full swing. george took junipers hand as he led them through the small crowds of people bowing to them. upon entering juniper instantly went and greeted lady danbury who was very delighted to see her there.
a while passed of people juniper knew didn't like her trying to converse with her as a song came on. it was the song played at her and george's wedding. "would you like to dance?" she asks george.
"isn't it the husband who's supposed to ask his wife?" he asks as she smiles. "i guess so." she shrugs as she takes his hand. as they made it toe dance floor she could tell he was uneasy. "just look at me. c'est juste toi et moi." she whispers as she lay her head in his chest.
"what does that mean?" he asks nervously. "it's just you and me. no one else matters." she says as he loosens his nervous grip on her waist. they danced around like juniper said, like no one else mattered.
it was almost as if it was just them two and their silence as juniper looked into his eyes every so often. she was in love. she had fallen for him. but she couldn't could she? she didn't know. she was conflicted.
"are you ok?" george asks with a whisper. "perfect." she says softly as she lays her head on his chest, dancing to the music surrounding them. he knew she wasn't but he didn't want to seem over bearing because in that moment he knew he was feeling something for her but he just didn't know what it was.
the night grew late as they returned to the palace and began to part ways. "i'll see you tomorrow?" juniper asks softly. "would you want to join me?" george asks softly as she nods. they then changed into their night clothes as juniper snuggled in the bed.
it felt nice to be engulfed in a warmth that was provided by another person and not just fancy bedsheets and comforters. it was easy for her to fall asleep, george's arm around her. but late into the night when she didn't feel the warmth, she grew worried.
she shook herself as she heard mumbling. something about venus she believed. as she slid on her robe she looked around confused. "george?" she calls out quietly. "george. what are you doing?" she asks as she sees him writing on the wall.
he then mumbles something about venus as he rushes out. "george!" juniper calls out to him as he runs to the garden. she had no clue what his problem was. he was calling out to someone- something that wasn't there.
was she dreaming? she had to have been. "george!" she yells once more as he turns to look at her. she took a deep breath. "come inside, venus is inside." she says playing along with what he was saying.
he seemed to believe her. "she's inside, waiting for you." juniper says trying to not let her voice crack. she then slowly walked up to george as she wrapped him in a blanket. "she's inside?" he asks quietly.
"she's inside." she assures him as she takes a deep breath. what could possibly be wrong with him. she didn't know. she didn't know if she even wanted to know. she was torn, upset almost.
she wondered if george knew and kept it from her. if brimsley knew and lied to her? for once in junipers life she had a problem she didn't know how to solve let alone where to start.
