" today is the cast meeting, but it looks like the main cast is more or less here. " toshiro mentioned. " let's just go ahead with the read-through as well. "
" we'll start at half-past. in the meantime just make small talk or get ready. " he added as he exited the studio.
" hey, kazume-san, it's been a while. " mei commented grabbing the girl's hand and shaking them.
" you can drop the honorifics, you can just call me, y/n. " y/n said politely and smiling. " thank you so much for this opportunity tho. "
" no problem! maybe i've grown attached to you! but anyway, i'm sure you can do this, another reason why i picked you. " she rumbled which made y/n laugh a bit.
" aw, thanks, mei-san! " y/n said.
mei smiled at her again and nodded, " oh, well. i might be needed there, gotta go. see you around. " mei mentioned when someone afar was signing mei to come there.
" alright, good luck. " y/n mentioned.
" mhm, you too. " she replied before turning around and making her way out.
as y/n looked at the script, she sighed and mumbled out the words to herself but suddenly yelped at kana's appearance.
" kana-senpai... " y/n greeted grinning.
" h-hey, y/n. " kana greeted.
" hey, guys. " aqua suddenly butted in.
" i swear, you guys should stop suddenly appearing, please. " y/n said clutching her chest because she got surprised again.
" why didn't you tell me you're at this play? " aqua suddenly asked.
" yeah, yeah. " kana agreed nodding.
" because, uh... " y/n looked around to think of a reason. " you guys didn't ask? "
' and can someone please tell akane to stop staring at me because she is burning a hole at me. ' y/n thought deadpan, crying inside and out. aqua sighed and kana facepalmed making y/n laugh a bit.
" remember, aqua? when we meet mei? she was actually from this company and i was offered a role. " y/n said crossing her hand. " and like, it was my first offer so i didn't decline it. "
" mei? haku mei? " aqua asked.
" mhm-hm! don't worry next time, i'll tell you guys. " y/n said smiling making kana do a hmph and crossing her arms.
" fine fine, but it'll be nice working with you, y/n. " kana chirped which made y/n smile and raise her hand for a high five which kana understood and high-fived it.
" yay! me too. " y/n said smiling a bit and taking a glance at aqua who was now walking his way to akane.
y/n frowned and excused herself from kana and sighed, reviewing her lines. but mostly she peeked at her script and then back at akane and aqua who were talking to each other. as time went by, the director came back making y/n sigh and stand up, gathering with the other cast, and starting the read-through.
" this time, they're all talented kids. "
"arima, who has had a long career as well as the people from lala lai can act well. "
" i was a bit worried about melt-kun after seeing his performance in sweet today but he's come a long way since then. "
" i also heard this is the first time aqua-kun is doing a play. but as everyone can see, there's nothing to worry about. "
" it's the same with kazume-san, and not that at all, no problems and it feels like she has a lot of experiences even tho it's her ever first play. that's just wow. very amazing. "
" the battle between the two genius actresses arima-chan and akane-chan is gonna be spicy. " raida mentioned. " the immersive style of getting completely into the role and the adaptive style of responding to the performances around you...even their acting styles are opposites. "
" from the look of it, akane-chan is one step ahead...but i don't want arima-chan to lose either." raida added. " i'm a fan of hers. "
" i don't know about that... " toshiro replied. " because we have himekawa here. "
toshiro continued to watch the casts practicing and crossed his arms saying, " perhaps that...who you mentioned, kazume, has a potential too. "
the director continued watching the cast acting together, especially the scene with y/n, kana, and himekawa.
" hah, finally, some rest! " y/n blubbered sitting next to kana while drinking water and looking at her script.
" arima kana. wanna grab a bite to eat? " himekawa asked.
" sounds great. i have a ton of things to ask you. " kana replied closing her script as y/n finished her drink.
" wanna come, y/n? " kana asked.
" sounds like a plan. " y/n replied smiling a bit and standing up next to her.
" melt, you're coming too. " kana called out.
" me? " melt asked, rather confused, pointing at himself.
" we've got a lot of scenes together, so, of course. " kana replied.
as the four got to eat together, they began to talk about stuff about their scene together or how to control the scenario. as people say, it's better if each perspective is heard and that's what they're doing.
rehersal, day 3.
theatrical productions typically have a rehearsal period of about one month. each rehearsal lasts about 6-7 hours from afternoon till night. it's difficult to assemble the entire case as many have conflicting schedules.
this is especially true for the main cast, who tend to have so much other work that they often can't make it to rehearsals. it's not uncommon to take their place so as not to disrupt the rehearsals for the rest of the cast.
however, those in the theatre business love theatre after all, so many will still try to turn up at night if they can.
