Builders

"Hey! Hey, wake up greenie!" I hear a familiar annoying voice say as his shoe pushes my shoulder shaking me awake. I open my eyes with a glare already settling over my features as I notice the sun hasn't even started to rise. "Why are you waking me up right now?" I grumble "Trust me you'll want to have the hard work done before the heat of the day," He tells me as he heads to the door "Now come on greenie, don't have all day," he tells me and I just want to growl at the infuriating man.

Instead of falling into my most primal of urges, I stalk behind Gally and let him lead me to the builder's shed with all of their tools inside. "We're working outside today. The fence that keeps all our animal's here in the glade rotted through, so we have to replace it," Gally explains and I nod along "So what do we need to grab?" I ask my eyes roaming over each of the different tools inside the shed. "Just take the axe for now, I'll carry the new wood and the other builders will meet us to help install it. We just need to take down the first section while the animals are still sleeping," Gally explains and I grab the axe carefully.

It may sound stupid but I felt a little powerful with the axe in my hand. I waited for Gally to grab a pile of wood and started out towards the fence. I smiled when I saw a puppy sitting there like he was waiting for us. "Aww, aren't you just precious," I said to the puppy as I dropped the axe and went over to pet the small fluffy creature. "Stay focused, we don't have all day," Gally tells me eyes only glancing at the puppy.

"Come on Gally, the little guy was waiting for us over here. He deserves some pets," I tell him and Gally scoffs before dropping the wood, the puppy scrambles out of my arms to go smell the pile. "Go on greenie, get to demolishing," Gally orders and I choose not to argue, and stand grabbing the axe once again and swinging it at the fence. It splinters and cracks easily from the rot. I can't help but smirk at the satisfaction I felt from breaking apart the fence. Once the sun starts to rise I'm sweating but the first section of the fence is wrecked.

I look over to Gally whose been monitoring and carving groves into the wood for the fence. "Go get the shovel and bucket from the shed, and if you see any of the other builders, tell 'em to start on the section on the other end," Gally tells me "Aye, aye, Captain Gally," I tell him sarcastically as I head towards the shed. I do as Gally says and return without incident, and although I hate to admit it. Working with Gally today wasn't as bad as I imagined, I felt disgusting working outside all day though.

"Lunch Greenie," Gally told me as I interlocked one of the posts. "Just let me finish this section," I tell him "No, now come on," Gally insists and I furrow my brows. "You were just telling me I wasn't working harder enough, and now that I'm invested I need to stop?" I ask and he steps in my way of grabbing another post. "Lunch now greenie," He orders "Whatever, Keeper," I tell him, I had heard one of the other builders mention how Gally didn't like being called keeper since he was running for second in command, and I plan to use that to my advantage.

I enter the mess hall and see Newt's smiling face quickly he's already sitting, but leaves his meal to come and greet me. "How's it going today, love?" he asks me and I sigh "Honestly? Not horrible. Gally's a pain in my ass, but I actually enjoy being a builder," I tell him and Newt smiles "You think you could do it? Deal with Gally every day?" Newt asks me and I shrug "How bad could it be?" I tell him with a smile and he laughs.

"Considering you punched him your second day here," he laughs and I laugh with him "I'm sure I could contain myself if I needed too
