At first, you didn't understand what it actually meant and didn't have any specific reaction when you faced it. You simply shrugged and gave your parents a flat "Okay." as an answer. As expected, they were considerably astounded by your state of mind, but thought it was better this way.
Despite your socializing skills, you didn't manage to have any long-lasting relationships as you constantly needed to change schools every two years, either because you were bullied or because your parents weren't in agreement with the school's education system.
But one friendship succeeded in holding on through the storm.
Her name was Sarah.
She was a short-straight-black haired girl with pink rectangular glasses and was as old as you. You met when you were 7 and got along very well in no time. Strangely enough, whenever you changed schools, she was still miraculously in the playground with you. However, you never saw her during classes and every time you tried to talk to your other classmates about her, they didn't seem to be aware of her existence. The whole school started thinking you were crazy, resulting in young kids bullying you and calling you a weirdo. Even your parents said they couldn't do anything about your situation. Sarah was the only one who seemed to understand what you were going through. She told you once that this was the reason why she ended up that way. You didn't realize what she meant that day.
Sometimes she would come at your house to play. At first, the other guests were still here, including Nancy's family. When the little girl and the eldery family met for the first time, they seemed to be pleased to have an acquaintance in common. You two would play together in the backyard, once in a while accompanied by Goliath.
"If I could have a dog, I wish he'd look like him." Sarah once said while petting Jeremy and Nancy's loyal companion.
In the end, your friend ended up being adopted by the old lovers. All of you were happy for her and thus she came to your house every time Nancy and her family decided to pay you a visit.
Alas, when you finished primary school, she just vanished from one day to another, which shook you to the core. The only friend you had, who has always been by your side unless you wanted to be alone, who carried you in her arms when you felt down, who brought you so much happiness, was now gone forever.
A few years later, you found out that she was bullied during her childhood. She had enough and decided to put an end to her pain in a radical way.
This is why she said she understood what you were going through.
Once again, you have been talking and befriending a ghost.
Your parents slowly started to distance themselves from you. Indeed, everyone around you knew what you were capable of, which led to dark rumors surrounding you. As your parents didn't want to have a bad reputation because of that, they simply decided to ignore you, leaving you alone forever.
