NATASHA'S POV -

Press conferences are not enjoyable, but they are necessary. We must stay on the side of the people if we want to continue to operate. Unfortunately, I happen to be good at talking to the press. This means that I am often volunteered.

"How do you plan on preventing incidents like this in the future?"

Tony clears his throat, "We have learned that we must always be prepared for the worst-case scenario. We went in prepared for an attack on a local police station, we were not expecting a stolen biohazard from a military facility. Our team did the best they could in the situation."

The shouting begins again, "Will there be consequences for Ms. Maximoff?"

This time Steve speaks up, "I think Wanda is punishing herself more than anyone else could. I want to clarify to everyone that Ms. Maximoff did not cause the explosion nor did she inflict harm upon anyone. She was able to contain the explosion long enough to protect the number of civilians on the ground. This is not something she had ever attempted or to her knowledge, could do. I encourage you to please lay off the 22-year-old." Steve sighs, "If you are going to blame someone for the incident, blame me. I failed to recognize the assailant's plans, I could have prevented the situation before it started."

"Why did the Avengers feel the need to respond? Why weren't local authorities informed? If the Avengers hadn't responded, no one would have been injured, correct?"

It's my turn to answer, "Given our knowledge of the assailant, sending local authorities would have been irresponsible. This man was trained under both S.H.I.E.L.D and Hydra. Given the location, it was clear that he didn't care to be seen or leave behind bodies. You are correct regarding whether our response to the situation led to the incident. It is likely that only employees of the military facility would have been at risk if we had not intervened. However, had the assailant escaped with the weapon, millions would have died. Not a hundred. Unfortunately, in our line of work, sacrifices must be made."

KATE'S POV -

I wake up slowly, my back aching. As I come to, I realize that I was lying on the living room couch. That explains my back. Y/n's arm is draped across my body as she sleeps. I can't help but smile at the beautiful girl in my arms. I carefully try to escape Y/n's grasp, desperately needing to stretch. The girl begins to stir, gripping me tighter. I curse to myself, dammit. After a few seconds, I try moving again.

Y/n groans, still half asleep. I sigh and lean forward, kissing her forehead. "I've got to get up, Y/n" I whisper.

Y/n's grip on me tightens, muttering under her breath, "No..." Her eyes flutter open, looking into mine. For the first time, she doesn't look uncomfortable in an intimate situation.

I chuckle, "I gotta get up, sleepy. My back hurts."

"No, stay with me." She whines.

I teasingly smirk, "Why should I?"

Y/n stares lustfully up at me, "Because..." Before I can process what's happening, she leans toward me, connecting our lips.

Y/N'S POV

Oh my god, I kissed Kate. I just went for it. My stomach is in knots, but her lips feel amazing. They're soft and plump, fitting perfectly with mine. I've never kissed a girl before, but man have I been missing out. She slowly pulls away, blushing, "You kissed me? " Those were my same thoughts.

I smile up at her, "I wanted you to stay."

She groans, "Ugh, you're making this so hard." She leans back, resting against the couch, hands over her face. I chuckle, pulling myself upwards before offering my hand to her. She takes it, standing up and stretching. Her back cracks, "Ohh that felt good"

Natasha waltzes into the room, stopping when she sees us. She smirks, "Good morning girls. Actually, almost good afternoon."

"Wait, what time is it?" Kate asks.

"11:45 am"

"11:45 am?" I gasp, "I have never slept in so late!"

Natasha just smiles on her way out, "You must have been comfortable."

I watch as she walks out, blushing slightly. I feel a pair of arms wrap around my waist. Kate rests her chin on my shoulder. "Were you comfortable last night?" She whispers into my ear, making me shiver.

Butterflies fill my stomach, "I was."

Kate nuzzles her head into the crook of my neck, "I guess we should get dressed and get some lunch."

We meet in the kitchen in about 30 minutes. I beat Kate, so I begin making some paninis (a type of sandwich for anyone who doesn't know). Since I don't have any current commitments (other than therapy), I've started learning to cook. Wanda has been helping me out.

I butter 4 slices of toast and place them on a large skillet. I layer turkey, provolone cheese, avocado, and tomato on top of two slices of bread.

I feel a hand grip my waist and spin me around. Kate places her hand on the back of my neck, pressing her lips to mine. I laugh breaking off the kiss, "What was that for?"

Kate smiles at me, "You started it, now there's no stopping it." She crashes her lips into mine again. One of her hands rests on the back of my hand while the other pushes my waist backward.

My ass is pressed against the counter and Kate's hips press against mine as we make out. I remove my hands from her around my neck and grip her hips instead. I push her off me playfully. "Hold on! You're gonna burn our food!"

"Oh no! Not the food!" Kate exclaims dramatically.

I playfully punch her shoulder and slide our sandwiches onto plates. They're only slightly over-toasted. Kate grabs two sodas from the fridge for us. We sit at the counter to eat our food.

Kate takes a bite first, "Oh my god, Y/n. This is so good! You're really improving"

I laugh and roll my eyes, "That's a real compliment from someone who can't cook for shit."

Kate gasps, "No you didn't!"

"Oh yes, I did!"

Clint walks in to grab something from the fridge, "You guys are so weird."

Kate and I look at each other, bursting out laughing.
