Chapter 28 - It's over

Jungkook became clingy. Ever since the day Ari passed away he never left her side. Except for the times she is in the bathroom, of course.

He takes every chance to hold her hand. He takes her with him everywhere, so that she is aware of everything. As promised, no more secrets, at least that's what she thinks...

And now that her father is involved in the investigations she spends more time at home too, her childhood home.

Mingyu, her father, and her husband were in the cabinet of Park's mansion checking out the video camera registrations. They need to find out the person who stole Doyoung's necklace to use it as bait.

Her Father managed to get him out of prison, but he is under home detention, till his innocence is proven.

While the other two were concentrated on the screen for details Jungkook kept stealing glances at her, afraid that she might disappear or leave without telling him. And it's not like she doesn't like his extra attention on her.

Chaeyoung feels good sleeping snuggled up against his body, she feels safe and warm. The only thing that is confusing her is that they still haven't talked out their frustrations,  they still haven't settled their things and what they are besides the labels of wife and husband.

Since the day he lost his mother, Jungkook feared that he would lose Chaeyoung. So he needs her to be right under his eyes.  Cuz every time this anxiety comes, he searches her petite figure, and her brown eyes, so he could feel sane again. She is his medicine and she doesn't need to know about his ailment.

"Here it is!", Mingyu exclaimed excitedly getting Jungkook out of his mind.

The video sequence showed a disguised man coming out of the window leading to Doyoung's room.

"It seems he forgot about the dead zones of the video camera when he was leaving...",

"Wait a minute! Zoom in to his back... Take a close look at the emblem on his coat... It's exactly like that of the assassin I captured earlier...", Mingyu's sharp eyes caught a clue.

"That means Yeri was killed by the same people who tried to kill me...", Jungkook concluded, "But what was the need for that?"

"Maybe they thought she was important to you since she was your mistress,  It's not like you two were hiding it and you said that there is a snitch in the Palace...", It was Chaeyoung's suggestion. Jungkook's guilty eyes found hers.

And even though it was an ugly truth and they already talked it out, he still felt the hurt and jealousy in her voice.

" But then why did they stage everything as if Doyoung did it?", it was her father asking taking into account her theory

"To make you suffer?",

As if he wasn't suffering enough.  His mother died,  his father tried to control him all his life, and his wife,  his soulmate didn't trust him.

"Let's say you're right,  how do we find them? I don't think they are sitting in an office with their address on display"

"I have an idea... "

"Hello Jeongkook, long time no see...", Jungkook is in the room where his twin brother is continuing his deep "sleep".

"I can't wait for you to wake up...  Me and Chaeyoung we need your help...", Jungkook stopped when he sensed someone behind him.

"You are here to kill me?"

"This time I wanted to see everything with my own eyes and make sure that you will die...",

Jungkook recognized this voice, "Taeyoung... Yeri's soulmate...",  he turned to look at him, and to his bad luck, he wasn't alone.

"Oh how long I wanted to kill you, even sent the best ones for this job  but you always we're so lucky...", he expressed his frustration

"How could you kill her?", it was unnatural and atrocious for someone to kill his soul mate, when he was supposed to protect her, to feel her warmth...

"How could you be with her when you were engaged? Since she met you she changed,  she pushed me away... and I loved her! Even when she was taking her last breath all she was talking was you... That's why I wanted to make you suffer! And then to end you slowly... "

Taeyoung aimed the gun at his head ready to shoot, "Say goodbye to your brother, don't worry he'll join you soon",

He pulled the trigger but Jungkook was fast to move and punch him. "Mingyu! Now!", he shouted as he fought Taeyoung.

Mingyu, who was disguised as Jungkook's brother, pulled the blanket out of him and shot the other two men who came with Taeyoung. Everything was happening fast. Seconds after the shoot, the room entered special forces and took Taeyoung from Jungkook's punches.

"I hate you Jeon Jungkook! You will rote in hell!", he kept yelling as he was put in handcuffs and walked out of here.

Jungkook leaned his back on the wall as he tried to calm down his breath...

This was his idea, to be the bait to draw the killers along with their master. They knew that the snitch would tell them about his visit. And after so many failures, the one who ordered them will not be able to resist this opportunity.

"You Highness,  you got injured...", Mingyu drew his attention to the apparent traces of blood on his clothes. Again he failed to defend him.

"Jungkook! Jungkook I heard shootings!", Chaeyoung ran into him alarmed, checking him for any wounds. Although her father told her to stay hidden until Jungkook came out, she couldn't wait, especially after she heard the gunshots. A thousand scenarios with deadly endings were in her mind.

"You're bleeding..." she gasped, her brows scrunched up, "I told you this was a crazy idea, he could have killed you.... "

He saw her tears threatening to fall from her eyes, he smiled and gently stroked her cheeks.

"I am fine, It's nothing serious, see it's already healing thanks to you...", he said calming her. She kept looking at him with her glassy eyes, and he couldn't help but smile at her worrying about him.

"Is it over?", she asked, waiting for his reassurance

Jungkook smiled, "It's over... "
