Y/N's POV
I stared out of my window, watching the trees pass by, while listening to music through my headset, trying to prevent myself from having visions of my father, Stu Macher.
It might sound confusing, but your appearance resembles your father's. You are tall, white, with blonde hair and blue eyes, but not too skinny. It's more like you have a muscular physique because you were obsessed with going to the gym weekly, though not overly buff. Your facial features are a mix of your father's and mother's.
After being away for a long time with your Auntie and her family, you are now returning to Woodsboro, California. It may not be obvious, but your Auntie Leslie Macher has been the one taking care of you since you were a child and has filled the role of a mother to you.
Both Auntie Leslie and her husband agreed to move back to Woodsboro so you could continue your education at Woodsboro High School. You couldn't say no, as you didn't want to upset her, even if it meant using a different last name instead of Macher.
"Y/N Cortez" is the last name she chose for you to use temporarily.
There's another problem aside from the visions. You have been experiencing visions of your deceased father, which you have already shared with Aunt Leslie. She helped by taking you to a therapist who prescribed narcotics to prevent these visions, but that's where the problem lies. Instead of helping you maintain your sanity, the medication seems to worsen the situation.
You sighed, feeling frustrated. Stu tends to show up whenever he wants, disturbing your peace of mind. However, today, he has been relatively calm and hasn't appeared, at least not until I heard his voice.
"Do you think listening to music and taking those narcotics will block me from your mind?" he questioned, but I chose to ignore him. "Ignoring me, huh?" he added.
I uttered, "Please go away, Dad. I'm not in the mood to talk to you right now," but he just chuckled and said, "Well, I'll be right back." I thought he might spare me, but he didn't. He appeared again, filling my ears with nonsense.
I massaged my temple, catching Auntie Leslie's attention. "Are you okay, Y/N? Are you having visions again, sweetie?" she asked, looking at me through the mirror, clearly worried.
The last time you had a vision of your father, you broke your bathroom mirror into pieces, and your knuckles were covered in blood.
Glancing at the mirror, I noticed Auntie Leslie also looking at me. "Yeah, but don't worry, I can ignore Stu. It's not like the first time I ignored Dad, haha," I assured her and gave her a small smile before turning my gaze back to the window.
Hours passed, and the car stopped in front of a beautiful house. I helped Auntie Leslie and her husband with their baggage and luggage.
Once I settled into my room, I looked up at the ceiling, trying to relax until a knock on my door caught my attention.
"Sweetie, can I come in for a second?" Auntie Leslie said. "Uh, sure, come on in," I replied.
As her head peeked in, a smile formed on her face when she saw me freshened up for the night.
"How's your room? Is it comfortable enough for you?" she said, breaking the silence. "It's good, Auntie. I'm just trying to settle in without breaking anything in here," I replied, scratching my non-itchy nape.
She chuckled, sitting beside me and taking my hand in hers. "I know having visions of your dad is hard for you. Just tell me if you need something to help you stay calm, and you know I'll be glad to assist."
She said, and I nodded in response. "I know you're trying to help me, Auntie, and I appreciate it. I'm glad to have you by my side all along. I don't know what I would do if I lost you," I sighed.
"Oh, c'mon, sweetie. I'm not going to leave you alone. You know I promise. And hey, I have a surprise for you."
"Can you briefly close your eyes and hold out your palm?" she added, "And don't peek, or else I'll poke your eyes," she threatened playfully.
"Okay, okay... Auntie, no need to poke my eyes, haha," I jokingly said as I covered my eyes and extended my palm to her.
Minutes later, I felt her place a key in my hand and she said, "Okay, you can look now." I opened my eyes and saw car keys in my hand. "Wha—"
"I know you need car keys, so I got them for you. I understand it will be difficult for you if you don't have the option to drive to school," she interrupted before I could ask, smiling widely at me.
I smiled back at her and said, "Thanks, Auntie. You're the best!" Then, I hugged her. Auntie simply tapped my back, caressing it. "I know."
She shook her head. "Just be safe every day, okay? You never know," she reminded me. She stood up from my bed.
"Well, I think I have to leave you alone now so you can sleep and wake up early for your first day at school tomorrow." She waved her hand as she exited my room, softly closing the door.
I heard her voice in the hallway, "Good night, everyone!"
"Good night, Auntie!" I replied.
Sighing in relief, I lay on my bed, getting comfortable as I set the alarm for tomorrow morning. Time passed, and as I stared at the ceiling, bored, I fell asleep without even realizing it.
