Harry's POV-
It's been four days since Christmas break. Everyone was back... well, everyone but the Malfoys. I was extremely stressed. I had been awful since a day after everyone came back. Don't even get me started about how I stayed awake all night watching for the Malfoy family. One long-haired blonde girl in particular. I hadn't slept in case I saw them enter the Hogwarts grounds. Lucy's letters had stopped coming and my anxiety was through the roof. I still wrote as often as possible. Did she forget about me? Did she not even receive my owls? What if she thinks I forgot about her? I'd never forget about her!
Hermione told me it was nothing to worry about. She spoke about how Draco loved being fashionable late. I chose to agree and stuff all my worries into a tiny corner in the back of my head. But this... girl... she's taking over my thoughts, my life, my time, my... everything! At night; I thought about her. During class; she was on my mind as I daydreamed of seeing her shimmery blonde hair glistening in the sunlight one more time. I mean her eyes! They twinkle like-
"Potter..." Professor Snape said as he stood in front of the Defense against the Dark Arts class. He had been teaching every month. Nobody knew why but Snape seemed a bit less Snape-y sometimes and that was good enough for us, students and the Hogwarts professors.
"Uhm... yes, sir?" I asked, snapping back to reality. All eyes were on me. The silence was deafening as Snape glared at me, slowly making his way toward my side of the class. My heart thumped so loudly, I was scared Professor Snape would hear it and get even angrier. I tried to regain my composure as he slowly approached me. The light ker-thump, ker- thump of his black square-toe boots echoed loudly. "Could you please repeat the question?" I asked nervously but still trying to sound polite.
"Nevermind, you insolent fool." the professor chastised before hitting me over the head with a book. (I can hear Alan Rickman's voice saying this as Snape. May he Rest In Piece <3)
"Don't worry, Harry." Ron said, "I wasn't listening to the lecture either. ' Seconds later, the book Snape had so rudely hit me with took a blow at Ron's head, causing him to mumble, "Bloody hell."
Snape glared at us before calling on Hermione. The man seemed disappointed nobody else was raising their hand. As much as he hated calling on Hermione, it seemed he just wanted the class to be over, and for once, I'd agree with him.
"Fwoopers are a type of African bird, that when having heard its caw can drive the listener insane," Hermione answered, smartly.
She flashed a know-it-all like grin and Ron caused both of us to roll our eyes.
