"But don't forget who's taking you home and in whose arms you're gonna be. So, darling, save the last dance for me." - Michael Buble

Chapter Eighteen: Can I have This Dance?

"Someday, when I'm awfully low. When the world is cold. I will feel a glow just thinking of you. And the way you look tonight."

I woke up with a smile. The kind of smile I only wear whenever I feel happy. And this morning, that was exactly what I felt. Well, the reason was actually not a mystery. The song that woke me up was my all time favorite. It felt like I was awakened by a very charming prince. And of course, I was his princess—obviously. The lovely symphony that only belonged to that song filled my heart with so much joy. I could stay in my bed all day long while listening to it again and again, but I remembered about school and a super important test in Physics today, which officially ruined my lovely morning. Thank you so much for that, Professor Bronx.

I turned to my side and reached for my phone that I placed on my nightstand last night, expecting to see a message from Peter. He said he will make me fall for him, so I assumed that receiving cheesy messages in the morning, afternoon and evening were on his list. But when I saw my message inbox, I was disappointed to see that it was empty. No text and call from Peter. None. Zero. That actually confused me, but I shook that thought off immediately out of my mind. The clock said it was already six o'clock in the morning. I didn't waste a single minute and prepared for school already. Last night, Katniss went to my bedroom—that was after I had a phone call from Peter. She gave me a very beautiful pink carnation dress. When I asked her why, Katniss just smiled and said that she only wanted to see me smile. Her thoughtful gesture was a blessing in disguise for me. Sure, it was just a simple gift and anyone could do it for me, but what she did made me forget the hurt in my heart even just for awhile. Today, I decided to wear it to let Katniss know that I was happy with her effort.

When I got to the living room, I heard a familiar tune playing. It was my favorite song. To my surprise, Peter was the one playing the piano.  Trust me, I had no idea that he could play it very well. My gaze then turned to the rose that was placed on top of the piano, which made me smile. Peter was wearing a navy blue suit that looked so good on him. His dark-brown hair was neatly combed and there was a sweet smile painted on his lips. The kind of smile that would make you go head over heels. How he managed to look so handsome at an early time of the day was still a mystery too, actually. When I looked in his eyes, I saw him doing the same thing. His eyes looked so beautiful that while I was staring at it—I was thrown away from reality and brought to a wonderful place that was only made for Peter and I.

"Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm—and your cheeks so soft. There is nothing for me, but to love you. And the way you look tonight."

I watched as he got up from his seat and closed the gap between us. The smile never left his lips. He held my hand and wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him. My stomach was filled with millions of butterflies—all types of it. His gaze was so passionate, it surprised me that I didn't melt on my place. None of us dared to say a single word. Believe it or not, but I already knew what he wanted to do. So when he moved his right foot, I followed him. We danced together as if the world around us didn't exist. It didn't really matter if there was no background music. Our heartbeats were more than enough to fill the air with so much love and joy. Dancing with him made me forget about the hectic schedule that was awaiting for me at school. It was as if time  had stopped just for us.

"I just realized that good morning messages aren't enough to show your love," he said while looking in my eyes intently. "If you love a person, you'll go the extra mile. So, Clarie, good morning to you."
