"Are you sure this is necessary?" You ask as Dolores pulls you along, fingers intertwined as you hold hands. It was a warmth you had grown accustomed to, even when you learned to hate physical touch as you grew older.
People started to treat you better since the incident of your first date. The influence of the Madrigals was nothing to joke about. They could probably convince the townsfolk to start a war, and they'd risk their lives at a single word.
"Of course it is. I want them to like you, the only one you're close to is Mirabel. It's time we changed that." She says shortly. Music resounds from the center plaza, making the said woman pull you close and twirl you around as she hums along.
You stumble slightly, quite clearly having two left feet. But Dolores remains unbothered, smiling widely and finding you cute as you try your hardest to move in rhythm along with her.
"You could at least give me some kind of warning before you pull me into the dance." You smile as you roll your eyes at your girlfriend.
She giggles, the sound remains to be music in your ears. "Where's the fun in that?" In a sudden, sharp movement, she suddenly dips you, making you squeak in surprise. "I dipped you. Is that warning enough?"
"You could work on the timing." You laugh before pulling her into what was supposed to be a quick peck, however, she pushes for a much longer kiss. Just the feeling of her smile on your lips made it all the more magical than it already was.
Dolores was the source of your healing. She is the sweetness of all your bitter days. And despite you loving the rain, the sunshine that is Dolores is someone you had unexpectedly learned to love more than anything else.
She may have been the source of the sun in itself; her bright and cheery personality, the radiance in her voice, the bounce in her steps, the gleam in her eyes. It was all too extraordinary.
Pulling away just enough for your foreheads to be touching, you keep your eyes closed. Hoping to savor the warmth, the comfort of the moment. And as you open your eyes, you find her smiling at you. Not once looking away from one another, you wished your brain could capture this moment and keep it forever in your heart. Where no one else mattered, where there wasn't any pain or weight on your shoulders, where Dolores was enough.
"Did the sun come up, or did you just smile at me?" You ask as you pull away, bringing her hand to your lips and kissing it.
She snorts, eyes dancing with mischief, a paired smirk playing on her lips. "Since when did you get so cheesy?"
"Since I started reading pick-up line books." You lean closer to her, speaking in a hush, covering your mouth as if you were sharing your deepest, darkest secrets. "I heard it gets all the ladies."
"Oh my god, you're such a dork."
"Yeah, your dork."
"Your pickup lines aren't gonna get you out of this though."
"Damn it." You fake disappointment, making her shake her head as she laughs, loving the way her hair moves along with the action.
As soon as you step foot into Casita, it shakes the windows as a means of hello. You gently tap it, whispering a "Hi Casita." before Dolores could fully pull you into the dining table.
Where you find all the Madrigals except Abuela Alma. You almost freeze on the spot as your eyes immediately meet Isabela's. "I thought you said it'd be an intimate get-to-know-each-other kind of thing with your family?" You whisper, visibly gulping.
"They're family, are they not?"
"I was expecting just your parents and siblings..."
"Well... Uhm." Dolores pauses, not knowing if stating that she wanted to get a message across to Isabela was a good thing to say. "Surprise?"
