"Babs..."
"We've got something to tell you..." Tim started
"About starfire and nightwing..." And Steph continued, slowly and carefully.
"I know, Zee told me. And I'm happy for them."
Tim and Steph went silent for a sudden."I got good news by the way. I hacked into Lex Corp's computer, and found some project that doesn't fit JL' s requirements. National Security told him that his projects mustn't harm anyone or anything, but I found a small bug in his proposal that could turn to something big and go against him." I said, while showing the usb I held in my hand.
"That's why you're the boss!" Steph shouted. "Should we tell Batman? Although I think his space missions with the justice league won't end soon." Tim said, looking at me, waiting for my reply.
"As the one in charge right now I would say... We can handle this on our own." I grinned. It's been two weeks since my breakup, and I'm done grieving. There's much more in life than romance. As people always say, the only kind of men that won't disappoint you is Ramen. And I'm currently on a case hunting Lex, what's he up to? Mysterious, and fun.
"Are you eating ramen right now? I swear I hear you slurping." Steph asked.
"Don't mind me, just focusing on breaking in Lex Corp's lab." I said, eating another spoonful of ramen. "I disabled all the cameras, and the laser thingy.""Copy that Oracle. Do you see an image?" Tim asked.
"Yup." I took another bite of my ramen and started drinking the soup.
Spoiler and Red Robin shot their grappling hooks to the building and swung in. They sneaked past the first group of Lex's security guards, and wandered in the second area. "Coast is clear. By the way, isn't it time to check on Cass and Damian? Bruce told us to call them at eight every weekend, remember?" Steph reminded me."I'll call them later, right now I have to help you avoid being caught." I answered, sending a text to Cass to let them know.
"Duck!" Tim suddenly shouted, they were spotted. "Try heading to the fifteenth floor. That's where the bunch of scientists should be, according to my heat sensor." I said. They ran through the white hallway, and straight to the elevator at the end of it. Tim pressed the button with the number fifteen printed on the glass surface. "We're heading to it." Steph told me.
As the elevator door opened on the fifteenth floor, two women appeared in front of them. One released a kind of sleeping gas and made them fall asleep. "Steph? Tim? Answer me!" I yelled. There was no response.I could see one of the women's faces when the smoke cleared. Fiery red hair, dark eyes, pale green skin, and in a lab coat. Ivy?
I was confused for a second, but I still could hear their conversation.
"Lex says bring the intruders to his office." The other woman walked closer to Steph. Pale white skin, a bit greyish, blonde hair with red and blue tips. Harley? They were both working for Lex Luthor? Why? I remember Harley saying she's not going to work for anyone anymore after her escape from the Joker. I also remembered that I'm leading the mission, and Bruce will kill me if Steph and Tim get hurt.I should call for backup, as the thought popped up in my head, I dialled Kara's phone number. Well, Lex Luthor is usually in Metropolis, and it's the supers' job to deal with them. But now he had entered Gotham, so it became part of my responsibility.
"Hi Kara." Whatcha doing?" I asked.
"Nothing, just scrolling Instagram."
"Do you mind heading to Gotham and lend me a hand? Lex Luthor problem."
"Oh... Okay sure. Heading your way now."
"Sending you coordinates... Done. Thanks!"I went back on the screen with Harley and Ivy dragging Spoiler and Red Robin around, with their heads mopping the floor.
"Got you what you asked for." Harley said. There was a big screen with Lex's hologram in it on the middle of the wall. "I need to go, I was doing an experiment when you called us to handle these bat brats, not the og batgirl of course, she was a nice person." Ivy complained.Thank you. I gave myself an applause.
"Leave them here, thank you both." Lex said. "I'll have a conversation with oracle."
Wait me?
"I linked the coms, now I can hear you talk, Barbara Gordon.""You know who I am?"
"I'll cut it straight to the point. I'm offering something for you."
"Sorry, but I'm not interested involving with evil wicked plans."
"I assure you, what I'm working on right now is nothing evil. I've asked Doctor Isley to help me to investigate a formula that I found. The serum is assumed to cure disableness after electric shock. It can get you out of your wheelchair."
"Intriguing. But why hide it from JL like a criminal?"
"It's because one of the raw materials was kryptonite. Superman would never approve for this medical cure."
He didn't seem to be lying. And Ivy and Harley are working with him. And I may be able to walk again.
"And? What do you want from me?"
"I know you have a master's degree in biology and chemistry. Why waste your talents working in the library? Besides, Doctor Isley requested you to assist her."
"..."
"I know you'll need time to think about this, I'll give you one week."
"..."
There was a sudden boom, and one of the walls collapsed. It was Supergirl. She scanned the room and saw the two bats lying on the ground unconscious. "Luthor." She growled.
"Well, you can have them back. I just needed them to have a little talk with a friend."
Supergirl grabbed the bats, and flew towards the bat cave."Kara!" I yelled. "Place them there, Alfred's gonna help them."
"You okay?" I asked."Yeah, good job calling me for backup. You can always count on me, you know?" She looked at me.
"Of course."
"Well, I'd better be going."
"Thanks for your help." I smiled, as Kara's shadow left the bat cave."Cough cough."
"Steph, you're awake!"
"Yeah... I'm glad we didn't die... Wait... Have you called Cass yet?""I knew I was forgetting something..." I slapped my forehead and dialled Cass's number.
"Hey Cass..."
