You are walking in the park near your school on your own, feeling the dead leaves crunching under your feet. October is almost there, which means that Halloween is almost there. The sky is monotonously grey and the drab clouds are pouring light rain onto the suburbs. As you look up, you see a crow flying by. It hasn't even been a month since classes started yet you already feel drained. Is it because it's early autumn or because you are tired of hearing your parents talking about how the house will be decorated for Halloween? You don't know. You sit on a bench and stare at the ground.
"Hey, [Y/n]! I never thought I would see you here."
Your friend sits next to you. She's a pretty girl with black hair falling a bit lower than her shoulders. She always wears heavy mascara with a light lip-color gloss and has two piercings: one in the nose and one on its right side. Today she is wearing three necklaces from different length: a short one with a moon, a mid-length one with a cross and a long one with a black heart. She has an AC/DC black crop top with black jeans and black and white trainers, a loose black and white jacket covering her shoulders.
" - Raven! Aren't you cold?!
- I'm not, [Y/n]. Why do you ask?
- You are dressed a bit lightly for the season, you know?
- Nah, I'm good! You are the one who seems to feel cold though.
- I'm not.
- Are you sure?
- Yeah, yeah, don't worry."
She smiles and wraps her arm around your shoulders.
" - You know you can tell me anything.
- I know, Raven. I just hate this time of the year because Halloween is approaching.
- Come on, it's in more than a month!
- I know that, but my parents are already thinking about it.
- Again?!
- Always."
She sighs.
"I mean, you're somehow lucky: we don't even celebrate Halloween in my family!"
You look at her.
" - How about you come at my place that day?
- Really?! I mean, if my parents agree, I would love to!"
A chill wind starts blowing.
" - I think we should head back to our respective homes.
- Yep, you're right!"
You start walking together towards the street you both live in when a weird guy starts approaching you.
" - Hello, girl(s). How are you doing?
- Leave us alone, creep, Raven replies.
- Why must you be so rude towards strangers? I just wanted to ask you something."
The strange man grabs her arm, causing her to immediately punch him in the face before grabbing your hand and running away with you. You finally stop once you arrive at her place.
"Welp, this is my stop. See you on Monday!"
She kisses your cheek and enters her home before you can articulate an answer. While walking towards your house, you look around you, afraid that the creepy stranger from earlier would come back for you. You make it safely to your home. However, something disturbs you when you look at the trees from your backyard. It seems like there is a tall shadow that's staring at you. When you blink, the silhouette is gone. You shrug, thinking you're probably just tired, and step into the cottage.
