Chapter 14: Where are they?

You wait for your brother to join you, but he doesn't show up. Thinking he didn't wait for you to come home, you leave the school alone. You keep wondering about the reason why you didn't see either Brian or Raven today. You feel like she isn't actually sick, but like something else happened to her. Before going back to your house, you head towards your friend's habitation and ring the bell. Her mother opens and looks at you in surprise.

" - Good afternoon, [Y/n]. What do I owe the pleasure of your visit?

- Good afternoon, ma'am. I wanted to get news from Raven because I've heard that she was sick.

- What do you mean? She left this morning to go to school.

- I didn't see her in class though.

- Isn't she with you?

- No, she isn't, ma'am."

The lady stares at you, worried.

" - I know my daughter, she would never skip class or run away from home! 

- When was the last time you saw her?

- This morning, before she left to go to school.

- Do you know if she might have some ennemies around here?

- Not to my knowledge. She has always been friendly and chill with people she met."

You nod, fearing the worst.

" - Has she ever told you about a certain young man named Charles?

- Yes, she has. She told me that he was a nice guy despite his slightly frightening aspect.

- Was she acting... different today?

- No, her behaviour was normal.

- Okay, thank you for your answers. If I ever get to hear from her, I'll tell you right away.

- Thank you so much! Have a nice day.

- The same goes to you, ma'am. Goodbye."

You walk back home, terrified.

"What if he did something to her?"

When you step inside, you are welcomed by your sister.

" - Hello, [Y/n]! Where's Brian?

- I don't know. Isn't he already here?

- No, he isn't. Wasn't he supposed to come back home with you?

- Yes, he was, but I don't know where he went. Maybe at one of his friends'. Anyway, how are you?

- I'm fine, thank you. And you?

- I'm okay, thanks."

You place your bag in your bedroom and head towards the living room.

" - Hello Dad, hello Mom.

- Hello, [Y/n]. Where is Brian?

- I don't know. I thought he'd be here, but Aurelia told me that he wasn't home.

- We expected him to get back with you. Do you know if he's at one of his friend's place?

- As I've already said, I do not know where he is.

- This is problematic...

- Indeed. Moreover, he isn't the only one missing. My friend, Raven, was neither at school nor at her house today.

- We need to call the police.

- I think you're going too far for now, sweetie, your father replies. We should first check where his friends are.

- You're right... [Y/n], do you know where they live?

- I do, besides that Nathan he talked about yesterday.

- Didn't he tell you about him?

- No, he didn't. I find this weird because he always informs me whenever he makes new friends.

- Give us their address and then we'll go and look for him while you stay here with your sister."

Once you wrote where Brian's friends live, except Nathan, your parents leave the house, leaving you alone with Aurelia.
