PART SEVEN – CHAPTER TWO;

MASON MOUNT

A win in Rome leads the boys to feel elated as they head to Wembley to face Denmark on the 7th July in the Semi-Finals. The first goal coincided in the tournament by the team comes in the 30th minute, before a Denmark own goal in the 39th sends the match to extra time. Harry Kane has his penalty saved only to catch the rebound to send England into the finals of the Euros, with Sweet Caroline playing out around the stadium.

Declan Rice, Mason Mount and John Stones all start once again with Ben Chilwell not included in the team. In the 95th minute both Declan Rice and Mason Mount are subbed off for Jordan Henderson and Phil Foden.

Sophia couldn't describe the feeling she felt as she walked back to her office, it was warm and fluttery, a tingle all up and down her spine and that was only after spending a short amount of time in Mason's presence.

He really had a hold on her.

She had been so thankful for Daisy giving her an excuse to go and watch Mason in the Lion's Den, she had been trying to think up her own reasoning for excusing herself for an hour or so, but she knew it would still look suss if she went and hung around by the filming on her own when she had never been there for any other player.

She actually really liked spending time with Daisy. She didn't understand when Mason used to say that he didn't want to lose Daisy as a friend, he thought he was just being nostalgic, that for her she had her set of friends, but she knew some people came and went and as for an ex they normally went for a reason.

But with Daisy she could see it, she was a really lovely person, she could see how her and Mason would have worked together because she had that same aura he has, she's able to make things better without doing much, just be being her.

And Sophia couldn't help but think how if she was soon going to step into Mason's life publicly then having Daisy on her side, as her friend already, it would make life a lot easier when she would have to deal with the upcoming backlash.

She walked back towards the meeting room, seeing Liam and Josh sat in there, snacks around them as they look over a report on the desk.

"Oh look she's back" said Liam with a smile as Josh turns to look too.

"Yeah sorry I got caught up afterwards" she admits, not elaborating.

She doesn't want to tell them how after the boys had finished their recording Mason's smile was just so inviting that she couldn't just hug him and say bye.

The four of them had walked back towards the building as Daisy told Dec how she was lucky Sophia came with her, so she didn't stand on her own, while Mason just grinned at the two girls, silently thankful for his ex and his new girlfriend at the same time.

They had headed back in as Sophia excused herself to her room, claiming she needed to pick up some files before she heads back for her late-night working session.

She spent two minutes in her room until she heard a knock followed by Mason slipping the key card Sophia had given him as he entered her room.

He managed to slip away from Daisy and Dec after Daisy told Declan that she needed to take some pictures of him for the social media channels which he jumped at.

A wink shared between the two exes as Dec's back was turned as Mason mouthed a 'thank you' to Dais as he shot up the stairs after Sophia.

No words were spoken when Mason entered Sophia's room, just lips upon one another's, hands trailing, gripping, holding as they struggled to catch their breath.

Sophia relished in the way Mason always seemed to kiss her like it was their first and last time every single time, she always felt so wanted.

"Mase I gotta get back to work" she had told him as he groaned, kissing along her neck, before she promised him she would try and see him later as she left him in her room as she quickly scrambled back towards the block, sorting herself out as she went, knowing she would be late.

"No worries so how was it?" said Josh pulling her from her thoughts as she takes a seat again around the table, pulling her iPad out to pull up her own reports to compare to theirs.

"Yeah was good, funny as per usual" she states, not wanting to elaborate on how hot Mason looked, or how he made her feel just by being himself.

"It always is with those two" said Josh as he smiled at her.

"Plus, can we talk about the elephant in the room?" asked Liam as Sophia froze, feeling like something was going to be said, that she was going to be exposed, that all this was about to be over.

"He's talking about his little crush" Josh said laughing as he gestures to Liam.

"All I'm saying is how the hell has Declan Rice managed to get a girlfriend like her" Liam said with a laugh as Sophia lets out the breath she seems to be holding "like she's a least a 10 and like I dunno I find it all weird".

"What do you mean?" asks Sophia with a frown on her face.

"The whole girlfriend swap thing" said Liam with a shrug of his shoulders "like she was fucking Mason not that long ago and now she's with Dec, like are they like a throuple or something?" Liam laughs as Josh shakes his head laughing too.

"I'm serious though" Liam continues "like I can see Mason with a girl like her but not Dec so either Dec's dick is better than Mason's or they are all still shagging, it's the only explanation, no way would she pick Dec over Mason, its facts".

Sophia frowns at Liam's words, its complete rubbish and it's the kind of thing she fears would be said about her online but not by people she knew.

Yet he knows these people and can physically talk about them in such a derogatory manner and however much she should stay quiet she can't.

"To start with Daisy is my friend and a lovely girl, secondly Dec is one of the nicest people we've all ever met and as for the whole 'swap' thing, they had been apart for well over a year before Dec and Daisy got together, so it's completely and utterly disgusting for you to talk about her like she's some whore or that either of those boys would be involved with that kind of behaviour" she stands from her seat "our job here is to help these boys as players but also as people to become better and here you are tearing them down in private, it's not right and I'm not sitting in here listening to it".

And with that Sophia picked up her iPad and left the room, feeling her anger simmer the further she got away from them and back to him waiting in her room.

From her view on the bench, she could only see the side of his face, the smile prominent and the excitement showing.

Sweet Caroline played out around the stadium as she looked down towards her phone, the live Instagram from Daisy's private insta showing the boys singing the words directly towards them as they screamed them back.

England were through to the Euro's final and for Sophia she knew it was just one more match, the same mantra she lived by as a coach, but she couldn't help but already feel the nerves swirling around in her stomach.

But for tonight she would try and enjoy it, which was a lot easier to do as she looked up to see Mason smiling in her direction, a grin just for her. She smiled back, he deserved this, they all did.

Now she just needed to get them through the next match.
