The feelings after the Scotland match including the imposed quarantine of Mason Mount & Ben Chilwell after coming into contact with Billy Gilmour after the match, as well as the build up to the next match at Wembley on the 22nd June against Czech Republic.

A goal from Sterling in the 12th minute after an assist from Grealish wins them the game, with Declan Rice subbed off at the 46th minute for Jordan Henderson, to rest him, and the same for John Stones in the 79th minute for Tyrone Mings.

The feeling John felt tonight was so different to the feeling he felt after the Scotland match.

He was elated, he was practically bubbling as he stood from the bench, after being substituted off in the 79th minutes, and made his way back onto the pitch.

He couldn't believe they had made it through the group stages, that they didn't have to worry anymore about another knockout early in a competition, or whether or not they would be good enough to face the 'bigger' teams. With this momentum it was like they could do anything.

His eyes scanned once again for Alex's who was stood at the edge of the pitch, with Dani and Daisy by the side of them as they waited for the players to finish on celebrating and make their way back towards them.

And however, much John was desperate to be with her, hear the way Alex would whisper that she was proud of him into his ear while he felt that warm feeling inside that only her words and actions could bring him, he just wanted to soak this in for a little bit longer, cement it into his mind, secure this memory forever.

"Oh I had such a good time tonight" said Alex smiling as she slumps down into bed, one of John's white t-shirts on her body as she lays on her front with her head turned to the side to look at him.

John turns to lay on his side, his hand brushing the hair from her face as he admires his beautiful wife. He still gets the same goosebumps and butterflies he did the first time he met her, the first time he laid beside her on the sun loungers or the first time he woke up beside her.

"Me too" he admits "it was lovely to see Luke and Lara" he tells her, knowing that with the 15minutes they were allowed to interact with friends and family he had quickly thrown a hello and thanks to his and Alex's parents who were sat together, like usual and then had managed to join up with his wife who was chatting to their oldest 'couple' friends.

It hadn't been that long ago that they saw them, Alex and John regularly keep in contact with them and they always come to the big events as well as the small like their wedding a couple of years back, however since then their family had grown once more.

"I can't believe how big Ava and Isla have gotten" Alex says as she thinks back to the way the two girls ran at her, hugging her tightly as she decided to stand with them for the night.

She remembers when they were born, Ava came along 7 years ago, Alex was still at Uni but her and John made the trip to meet the little baby, including going to her christening and every birthday party that followed.

When Isla came along 5 years ago Alex and John were both given the honour of being chosen to be her god parents, after Ava's had been family. Lara claimed that it was Alex who had encouraged her all those years ago to go for what she wanted which was Luke and that without her they wouldn't be together or have these beautiful daughters.
